The Traitors US Episode 4: Where the Eliminated Players Went Wrong
The Traitors are no longer a united front. In the Thursday, January 16 episode, Rob Mariano “Boston Rob” threw Bob the Drag Queen under the bus at the roundtable, which resulted in his elimination. While one Survivor legend emerged victorious, another one was not so lucky. Jeremy Collins was murdered by the Traitors in Episode 4 after Danielle Reyes learned he was onto her.
If you’re new to reality competition shows and need help unpacking where these players went wrong, don’t worry, I got you. Here’s what you need to know.
WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD: DO NOT KEEP READING IF YOU ARE NOT CAUGHT UP ON THE TRAITORS SEASON 3, Episode 4.
Jeremy Collins – Murdered by the Traitors in Episode 4
The Traitors put the nail in Jeremy Collins’ coffin in the January 16 episode. He was one of three players put on the Traitors’ “shortlist for murder” alongside Ciara Miller and Nikki Garcia. The three players were placed in a coffin where they would either be sacrificed or saved by their murderous housemates. The Survivor alum made a final plea to the Traitors before his casket closed, saying he would work with them if they didn’t kill him. Unfortunately, his deal wasn’t convincing enough. He became the third player murdered in the castle.
Jeremy made a few crucial mistakes. His intuition helped him identify Danielle as a Traitor, but he didn’t act on his theory. He didn’t rally votes for her or try to convince his fellow players at the roundtable. Instead, he shared this theory with several players and let that information hang in the balance. He made the mistake of telling Danielle’s allies that he suspected her, which put his game in grave danger. Her allies filled her in and she set her sights on murdering the Survivor legend.
If you throw out a name on The Traitors, you better be prepared to follow through with that theory at the roundtable. If not, you should keep that information to yourself until you believe you have the votes to eliminate the player you suspect. News travels fast in the castle and you don’t want to make enemies. Jeremy needed to banish Danielle before she could kill him, but he didn’t deliver. His inability to act on his theory led to his demise.
Bob the Drag Queen – Banished at the roundtable in Episode 4
Bob the Drag Queen’s murderous reign came to an end in Episode 4 after his fellow Traitor, Boston Rob, betrayed him. Rob felt that Bob had too much control inside the Turret and wanted to give the Faithfuls some Traitor blood to buy some time. He successfully convinced his fellow players that Bob was a Traitor, ending his time in the game.
I think Bob made two major mistakes in the castle. One of them was his defensiveness when Dylan Efron suspected him. He should’ve made an effort to appease Dylan and build a personal relationship with him. But he didn’t do that. After Dylan threw out his name, Bob ignored him in the castle. If he had done some damage control, maybe Dylan would have reconsidered his theory.
His second mistake was being too opinionated in Traitors Turret. The Season 3 Traitors all have huge egos. In an earlier episode, Bob wanted to kill a housewife and said he would not listen to any other option. His stubbornness in the Turret set off an alarm bell for Boston Rob, who felt as though he could not work with Bob going forward. Bob’s ego tanked his game.
Who is in trouble on Season 3 of The Traitors?
There are a few players whose game I believe to be in a precarious position. Boston Rob is the player I am most worried about. After the Episode 4 roundtable, Wes Bergmann revealed he was suspicious of Rob. He questioned how he could be so sure Bob was a Traitor. In his mind, the logical explanation would be if Boston Rob was a Traitor himself. He shared this idea with Tom Sandoval, Ivar Mountbatten, and Chrishell Strause, who all seemed intrigued by the theory. Boston Rob very well could be in trouble in the next episode.
Ciara may also be in trouble. There were murmurs about her being a Traitor while she was in the coffin. When she survived, some players suspected she was recruited to be a Traitor. She survived the last roundtable but I worry about her long-term game.
Danielle’s name has been floating around the castle. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s a topic of discussion at the next roundtable. Sure, she got rid of Jeremy but he told a lot of people his theory before his elimination. Not to mention, his murder makes her look even more suspicious. Hmm. We’ll have to see.
