2025 NBA Trade Deadline: Rumors, news, analysis and FAQ

The NBA trade deadline is just a few days away now, and so we here at SB Nation figured it was worth answering some frequently asked questions about one of the most bizarre and impactful times of the NBA year.

When is the NBA trade deadline?

The 2025 NBA trade deadline is Thursday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. ET. Any trades teams want to make must be agreed to and called into the league phone lines before then.

Who are the best players available at the 2025 NBA trade deadline?

Well, it was previously thought that Jimmy Butler might be the biggest name available… until Kings star De’Aaron Fox asked out, and then the Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis. So really, at this point, anything is possible. Could LeBron James be traded? Could Kevin Durant ask out? Nothing seems off the table.

But even previous to those fireworks, there were some lesser-known but still impactful names on market, including the (seemingly) perpetually available Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls, as well as former All-Star Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans. Cam Johnson (Brooklyn Nets), Nikola Vucevic (Bulls) and John Collins are the next best players known to be available, according to our rankings, but every year features a few surprise names dealt, and 2025 has already definitely proven to be no different in that respect.
