The Kansas City Chiefs opened their Super Bowl defense with a 23-14 win over the Houston Texans. It was a scrappy game and Houston looked like they might be able to spring the monumental upset. However, when Ka’imi Fairbairn missed an extra point after Joe Mixon scored what appeared to be the game-tying touchdown, the vibes swung. The Chiefs benefited from some atrocious officiating, but in the end the Texans only had themselves to blame in the loss.
The Chiefs will host the winner of Sunday’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills.

The Philadelphia Eagles will play host in the 2025 NFC Championship. They held off a late drive by the Los Angeles Rams to advance to their second conference championship in three seasons. Saquon Barkley ran in a 78-yard touchdown that proved critical in a 28-22 win. The touchdown gave them a two score lead, but after the Rams scored a touchdown and forced a punt, they nearly drove down the field for a score. They came up short and the Eagles advanced.
The Washington Commanders continued their wild run with a stunning 45-31 road upset of the Detroit Lions. The game looked like it would be a back-and-forth affair. We had four lead changes in the first half as the teams exchanged touchdowns. However, Quan Martin ran back a pick-six in the second quarter and the game turned. The Commanders managed another huge interception deep in their own territory late in the second quarter and pulled away in the second half.
This is the second time the NFC East rivals have faced off in the playoffs. Washington won a Wild Card Round matchup between these two teams in 1991.
