Chandi Dayle‘s stark absence from America’s Sweethearts Season 2 has not escaped the fans. The sixth-year veteran of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) had very little screen time on the latest season of the popular sports docuseries. Fans are now wondering what caused Chandi to take a break from the show.
So, here’s everything we know about Chandi Dayle’s absence from America’s Sweethearts Season 2.
Why Chandi is absent from America’s Sweethearts Season 2
Chandi Dayle is no longer a part of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
During the squad’s group trip to the Bahamas, Dayle broke protocol and compromised her position in the team. Following their return to Texas, the cheerleaders found out that Dayle was not the first leader. Head choreographer Judy Trammell addressed the situation and announced that Chandi had to leave. Chandi gave a personal statement at the time as well, revealing that she had been “struggling mentally.”
However, in Season 2 Episode 7, titled “Saturn Returns,” Jada McLean gave a more detailed account of what really happened to Chandi. She explained that Dayle had to step down from her position after she broke protocol during their trip to the Bahamas, as she invited someone back to her room. Her actions compromised the safety of the squad. “A lot of people were worried for their safety because they didn’t know who this individual was. If that was me, I probably wouldn’t want to be in a room with a stranger either,” Jada explained. (via RadioTimes)
KayDianna further explained the cheerleaders’ contracts “specifically even [state] that we are not allowed to give out information like that. Specific information like location, the hotel – that would put anyone in harm’s way.”
Chandi later gave her own side of the story revealing that she had “met someone” in the Bahamas with whom she could relate to about her past experiences. However, she reiterated that the nature of their interaction was not sexual.
Although Chandi did briefly rejoin her team, she later confirmed that she will not return to the DCC. She gave a personal statement announcing her departure and expressing her gratitude towards the team and the coaches. “I love you both so much. And I love this organization. And I appreciate you both being there for me through a lot of ups and a lot of downs. It was a real safe place for me. I’m excited to watch you all from the sidelines and cheer you on,” Chandi stated.
Dayle concluded on a positive note saying, “I think this year I found who I really am. I lost it for sure, was lost in who I really was. There was a long time where I was scared to just not be without dance because that was just me and that was my safe space. But I feel good.”
