8 Outfit Pics I Took When I Was Supposed to Be on My Way

Welcome to Before I Head Out, a monthly series in which fashion editor Anneliese Henderson rounds up the snaps she’s taken of her favorite outfits before heading out the door of her Los Angeles home.

If I’m late to an event, it’s likely because I spent too much time in front of the massive mirror by my front door. But hey, that’s how this column was born. Plus, I’ve shared some really cute fashion inspiration with you all, so can you really blame me?

I’m not sure if it’s these summer months that are making me more excited to shop, but I’ve found some gems lately—barrel jeans (if you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m obsessed), chunky gold earrings, baggy shorts, and celebrity-approved jeans to name a few. And as usual, they needed to be shared. Keep scrolling for a look into my camera roll.

My obsession with barrel jeans began around March when I received my first pair from Free People, and it’s grown tremendously since then. Now I have three pairs, and I wear them just about equally.

I’ve loved the look of wearing boxers underneath pants for a while now, but every time I try it, it ends up looking bunchy. That’s why I’m ultra appreciative of this built-in pair from Zara. It’s such an easy way to elevate your outfit with zero effort.

As you will learn in this article, my obsession with red is strong right now.

Almost every editor and influencer owns this dress, and it’s not hard to understand why. Whether you’re short, tall, curvy, slender, or somewhere in between, it will look good on you. I have it in several colors and patterns, but Animal is my favorite at the moment.

Meet my latest office uniform. On days when I know I’m going to be walking around, I can’t fathom the thought of wearing pants, and these shorts offer the perfect alternative. It’s like taking a pair of work pants and cutting off the bottoms. Today, I opted for a red shirt from Garage (if you haven’t tried this brand, its basics are incredible) and a socks-and-flats situation. Oh, and I added a funky belt to break it up a little bit.

Okay, Kylie Jenner, these are some amazing jeans. The bagginess level is exactly what I was after, and they hugged my waist perfectly. I dressed them up with a sultry—surprise!—red off-the-shoulder top since I was going out on a little date night with my husband. But I’m so excited to throw them on with a basic tee and sandals. You know how much I love versatility.

It’s funny to think back to a time when I wore short shorts. Who was that girl? I don’t even recognize her. Now all I reach for are big, baggy shorts. I even size up when buying jeans so I can get a looser fit. I love the look of this dressy strapless top with these shorts. If it wasn’t so damn hot outside, I would have considered a pair of socks to really style up this look. But my fisherman sandals and sporty glasses got the job done.

This jeans-and-tee look was feeling a little boring this particular day, so I took it a step further and added some cherry-colored Margaux flats and a red Zara belt (which is now sold out but don’t worry, I added some cute alternatives below). This is what you’ll see me in 99% of the time—it’s such an easy outfit!
