Carl Radke Reveals How Much Money He Lost Canceling Lindsay Hubbard Wedding
It hardly seems a relevant topic, given that Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard called off their engagement in September 2023, but the Summer House star is talking numbers. And the Soft Bar & Cafe owner revealed exactly how much money the former couple lost when they canceled their November 2023 wedding in Mexico.
Both parties have moved forward. Lindsay is a new mother to daughter Gemma, whom she shares with her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Carl invested in a soft drinks bar that is soon to officially open. So what is there left to discuss about the former relationship? Well, apparently the money lost in its demise.
Carl Radke missed the refund deadline by a week
Carl appeared on the February 5 episode of The Viall Files. He reiterated that he was not looking for an out with Lindsay when they sat down for the fateful conversation that aired on the Summer House Season 8 finale.
“I didn’t want to be the guy who stood up there [at the altar] and it wasn’t right. But I’m telling you, when I went into that summer, the amount of money we invested in all of it, I missed the cancellation for the wedding to get a full refund by seven days,” he revealed. “I wasn’t thinking about canceling anything other than trying to get on the same page with her.”
The timing of the break up dictated that Carl lost “around $150,000” because he missed the cancellation deadline.
“Had I been seven days sooner, I would have saved around $150,000. But that wasn’t in my brain. I was just trying to land the plan with her,” he explained. “Honestly, if I was smart, I would have done it two months prior and saved myself a lot of pain and misery.”
Carl’s previous estimation during the Summer House Season 8 reunion had the loss at “more than $125,000.” Lindsay suggested he be responsible for the cost, given the situation.
“You took care of the cancellation fees because you canceled!” Lindsay said at the reunion. “Do you want a pat on the back for that?”
Carl is “happy” to have seen Lindsay while filming
It’s been over a year since the break-up, but Carl told host Nick Viall that he still misses the former publicist.
“She brought out the child in me at times. We were very silly. We had a lot of funny jokes,” he shared.
There was social contact between the former couple as they had to film Summer House Season 9 together. Carl felt the experience filming with his ex-fiance was “wild.”
He added, “It made me, in a weird way, happy, because I saw her happy outside of me. She had a really fun summer with the rest of the group. People actually said, ‘I wish she was pregnant more often.’ Because she was just happier and just in a lighter mood. Her demeanor, for the most part, was really positive, which was nice.”
As for what to expect in the new season, Carl teased “some conflict” with Lindsay. He joked that their strife is “good TV.”
“I mean, there were some moments we had that you will see on the new season,” he said. “We had some conflict. It’ll probably be good TV. But it was almost like we needed to have that.”
