Wicketkeeper-batter Siddhant Addhatrao and all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar have been cleared to enter the auction pool for the T20 Mumbai League, despite representing Pondicherry and Goa, respectively, in the recently concluded domestic season.
“This is to inform you that the Board of Control for Cricket in India has approved the participation of Mr. Arjun Tendulkar and Mr. Siddhant Addhatrao in the T20 Mumbai League – Season 4,” stated a communication from the Mumbai Cricket Association to franchise operators, accessed by Sportstar.
“Accordingly, both the above-mentioned players shall be included in the Auction Pool.”
Addhatrao, who made his Ranji Trophy debut in the 2024-25 season, turned out for Pondicherry last year, while Tendulkar has been representing Goa in domestic cricket over the past few seasons.
As per MCA rules, a local player returning after featuring as a guest for another association is required to undergo a mandatory one-year cooling-off period. However, MCA secretary Unmesh Khanvilkar clarified that the clause would not apply in this case.
“Since they have not participated in the T20 league organised by the association of their respective teams, the BCCI has allowed them to participate in the T20 Mumbai League,” Khanvilkar told Sportstar on Wednesday.
Addhatrao confirmed that he has submitted the required No-Objection Certificate.
“I just want to enjoy Mumbai cricket, be it First-Class, T20 Mumbai or maidan cricket.”
Meanwhile, Tulshidas Shetye said that Tendulkar has not yet sought an NOC, with the Goa Cricket Association yet to finalise its guest players for the upcoming season.
Tendulkar is currently part of the Lucknow Super Giants squad in IPL 2026.

Despite posting its highest-ever total of 264 for two, courtesy K.L. Rahul’s career-best unbeaten effort of 152, DC contrived to go down with seven balls to spare.
Among the flaws laid bare, the fielding lapses were particularly galling. Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer, who form the fulcrum of PBKS’ power-packed batting line-up, were all offered reprieves that they gleefully capitalised on.
“Fielding let us down. We dropped almost six catches today. When you are dropping catches at a crucial time, especially of players like Prabhsimran, Priyansh and Shreyas, we won’t win these kind of matches,” Venugopal told the media on Saturday.
Another aspect where the host faltered was its bowling in the PowerPlay. The DC attack allowed Kings to waltz to 116 for none in six overs, with Priyansh and Prabhsimran depositing the ball into the stands as nonchalantly as they would in a range-hitting training session. Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag might be going through one of his leanest spells as a batter in the Indian Premier League. The 24-year-old has struggled so far in IPL 2026, managing just 81 runs from seven innings.
Royals’ coach Kumar Sangakkara, though, isn’t losing sleep over Parag’s batting form.
“I think he’s batting really well,” said Sangakkara on the eve of the Royals’ match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur on Saturday.
“When you’re batting well, sometimes you don’t always score. I would have been concerned if he wasn’t hitting the ball well. I think he’s hitting it really well. He just needs to stitch together a few more runs so that he sets himself a good platform to attack in the end,” said Sangakkara.
The former Sri Lankan skipper also explained the rationale behind Parag’s elevation as the Royals’ skipper.
“More than anyone else’s influence, why we chose Riyan as captain is that his learning curve has been steep. He has learned a lot from others, but more importantly, from himself.
“I’ve never seen a young player under so much pressure from the start of his career in RR. Riyan was, a lot of the time, front and centre in a lot of our social media. He was always put out there.
“Because he was an exciting young cricketer and had this aura about him. A pretty good-looking guy as well. But that also brings with it a lot of pressure. And sometimes it’s unfair to have such a young guy be under that pressure. I think he has learned a lot from those experiences,” added Sangakkara.
The Royals coach added that Parag will continue to have the team’s backing as it expects him to grow into the role.
“As a player, as a batter, the franchise backs him 100 per cent. And what’s really exciting for me is to see how he has just embraced the captaincy and the leadership. And you can see even in the last game how good a captain he was. So, I think he will learn more and more about pressure and he will get better.”

“Mumbai has a strong cricketing ecosystem — from the Harris Shield and Giles Shield to U-19 and inter-collegiate tournaments — which has long served as a supply line for talent,” Vengsarkar said.
“It continues to produce players who are the future of Mumbai and Indian cricket. I hope you all play for India. I am not saying that you shouldn’t play the IPL as it is also important, but you must contribute to Mumbai’s success.”
The ceremony, attended by Sunil Gavaskar, former MCA chief Ashish Shelar and Maharashtra minister Aditi Tatkare, saw Shardul Thakur and Siddhesh Lad named Best Cricketer for 2024-25 and 2025-26, respectively.
Vrushali Bhagat won the Best Senior Women’s Cricketer award (2024–25), while Sayali Satghare was honoured for the 2025–26 season. India U-19 World Cup-winning captain Ayush Mhatre and Abhigyan Kundu were also felicitated.
“Special thanks to MCA for backing me at a young age and supporting our U-19 World Cup win,” Mhatre said. Reflecting on his development as a player, he added, “Batting in the maidans of Mumbai is difficult. Practising in the maidans helped me perform at the higher levels. I love playing in Cross Maidan, Sivaji Park, and Oval Maidan — they’ve shaped my game.”
Jemimah Rodrigues was honoured for India’s Women’s ODI World Cup triumph, alongside coaches Amol Muzumdar and Aavishkar Salvi. Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube also received special awards.

Cricket Association of Pondicherry (CAP) has suspended three of its first-class cricketers with immediate effect on allegations that they assaulted the Under-19 state team’s coach Venkataraman on December 8 last year, the state body announced on Wednesday.
The three players — J. Karthikeyan, A. Aravindaraj and S. Santhosh Kumaran — have all represented Pondicherry across Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in recent years. In fact, Aravindaraj had represented the union territory during last domestic season also.
A press release issued by CAP said: “The trio have been charged with attempt to murder and assault on Venkataraman. A formal charge sheet has been filed by Station House Officer (SHO) Sedurapet Police Station under FIR 100/2025 and the matter is pending before Judicial Magistrate-IV Court Puducherry.” The CAP, in its own capacity, has “suspended the players” from entering any of its said campus and they are prohibited from using any of state association’s facilities.
The players will not be allowed to play in any national or external tournaments and the suspension will remain effective till the court clears them of all charges. The accused trio do have the option of appealing to the Ethics Officer/Ombudsman of the state cricket body.

A formal charge sheet has been filed by Station House Officer (SHO) Sedurapet Police Station under FIR 100/2025 and the matter is pending before Judicial Magistrate-IV Court Puducherry.” The CAP, in its own capacity, has “suspended the players” from entering any of its said campus and they are prohibited from using any of state association’s facilities.
The players will not be allowed to play in any national or external tournaments and the suspension will remain effective till the court clears them of all charges. The accused trio do have the option of appealing to the Ethics Officer/Ombudsman of the state cricket body.

Heinrich Klaasen’s 39-ball 59 ensured that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) maintained the momentum through the middle overs after Abhishek Sharma’s blistering start against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Even as wickets fell at regular intervals around him, the South African held firm, guiding the side to its highest Indian Premier League (IPL) total against CSK.
While runs have continued to flow from his bat, his strike rate has drawn scrutiny. This season, he has scored at 144.39 – significantly lower than his previous highs of over 170.
Notably, he has also been among the slowest starters, striking at 106.66 in his first 10 deliveries.
Earlier this month, Klaasen admitted he needed to improve his scoring rate. However, after steering SRH to a narrow 10-run win on Saturday, he emphasised that his priority was navigating difficult situations rather than focusing on strike rate.

“I have been coming in at situations where we have lost four wickets in one or two overs. So I cannot go right from the start. I need to get the job done. In difficult situations, you have to take responsibility and be mature,” he explained.
“We get paid to do the job, and I don’t care about strike rate. I know there has been a lot said about it this season, but I have been putting the team in good positions, and I am just doing my job,” he said.
“The wicket was good enough. We lost too many wickets up front, and we needed to get to that 220 mark. I thought CSK bowled extremely well at the back, and that’s why we didn’t get there.”
Klaasen also noted that the early loss of wickets led to Liam Livingstone being introduced as the Impact Player, even if it meant the likes of Nitish Kumar had to complete their full quota.
“Nitish has been bowling brilliantly. That gives us the luxury to make brave decisions like that. We know that the wicket is not going to spin a lot, so we didn’t mind him bowling the couple of overs that he did.”
