Kolkata Knight Riders nearly defended 155 runs against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium but came up clutch in the Super Over to claim its second win in IPL 2026 on Sunday.
Varun Chakaravarthy and Vaibhav Arora claimed two wickets each to restrict Lucknow to 155 for eight. Rishabh Pant scored 42 off 38 balls and Aiden Markram added another 31 but could not get LSG over the line.
Kartik Tyagi was asked to defend 17 runs off the final over but gave away two No Balls to hand LSG a late lifeline in the game.
In the Super Over, Sunil Narine dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Markram inside three balls to set up the contest before Rinku Singh hit the first ball for four and sealed the result.
It could have been vastly different had Rinku not accumulated 26 runs off the final over of KKR’s innings. His 51-ball 83 ensured the visitor recovered from 93 for seven after the 16th over and lived on to fight.
