Two members of the Sri Lanka men’s under-19 cricket squad have been bailed following their arrest for allegedly filming women hotel guests while showering, a board official said on Friday.
Sri Lanka Cricket has launched its own investigation into the alleged incident, which was reported on Wednesday at a hotel in the capital Colombo where the team was staying during practice sessions ahead of a local tournament.
“We are looking into this while the police investigation and court proceedings are ongoing,” a board official told AFP.
The two players — who have not been named — appeared before a magistrate on Thursday and were released on bail.
The court ordered their mobile phones to be sent for forensic examination to determine whether any of the videos were uploaded to social media.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president Shammi Silva resigned from his post with immediate effect, the board confirmed in an official statement on Wednesday.
According to the media release, the entire leadership structure of the Board, including office bearers and members of the Executive Committee, has also stepped down.
”The President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Shammi Silva, has tendered his resignation from the post, effective today. Along with him, the office bearers and members of the Executive Committee of the SLC have also submitted their resignations,” the statement said.
”This decision has been formally communicated to His Excellency President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage,” the SLC media release added.
The development comes amid a major administrative shake-up in SLC, with Silva facing allegations of financial irregularities. Silva served as SLC president for four consecutive terms, three of which he won uncontested.
Silva first took charge as SLC President in February 2019, replacing Thilanga Sumathipala, who had also faced corruption-related allegations during his tenure.
