The Surprising Print That Is Making a Major Comeback This Summer

Over the past several summers, we’ve seen a number of prints take off. Jean Paul Gaultier’s signature prints all but took over on social feeds last year. Polka dots made a resurgence on the runway at Miu Miu in the F/W 2023 collection. Scarf prints have taken infused into everything from swimwear to sarongs. The latest print that is making somewhat of an unexpected resurgence? Gingham.

Gingham is timeless and classic, so it is a print that can withstand the trend cycles but it has been many years since it has been at the center of design for brands. The last major moment on the runway for gingham was in the spring/summer 2015 collection that were presented ten years ago, and the print was a point of departure for designers including Altuzarra, Michael Kors, and Oscar de la Renta. There was a sense of lightness and preppy femininity that has now made its way back into the fashion space again. High Sport, in particular, is making the print in-demand again amongst the fashion set with its matching sets that are practically sold out everywhere.
