The new Timothée Chalamet ping pong drama Marty Supreme, which was directed by Josh Safdie, has achieved a rare box office milestone for its distributor, A24. Marty Supreme reviews have been superb, earning the 2025 movie a Certified Fresh 94% Rotten Tomatoes score.
The prestige of the new movie, which also stars Odessa A’zion, Fran Drescher, and Gwyneth Paltrow, has only grown in 2026. On January 11, Timothée Chalamet won his first Golden Globe Award (out of five overall nominations) for his performance in the movie. Just 11 days later, Marty Supreme was nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor (for Chalamet).
Per The Numbers, Marty Supreme‘s awards success on January 22 was matched by box office success, as the movie hit the $100 million milestone worldwide on the same day. At the time of writing, its cumulative global gross is $100.4 million, comprising $82.7 million from the domestic box office and $17.7 million from international markets.
The Timothée Chalamet movie has thus become the fourth A24 movie to ever pass the $100 million global milestone, behind 2025’s Materialists ($106.4 million), 2024’s Civil War ($127.3 million), and 2022’s Everything Everywhere All At Once ($145 million). While Everything Everywhere remains A24’s highest-grossing movie worldwide, Marty Supreme has superseded it as their No. 1 domestic release.
While its box office performance is remarkable for an A24 movie, Marty Supreme comes with a budget that more or less necessitates a strong theatrical haul. In fact, it is A24’s most expensive movie at the time of writing, with a reported budget of roughly $70 million. This could place its estimated break-even point somewhere between $150 and $175 million.
However, Marty Supreme does not necessarily need to hit that milestone in order to be considered a success. Awards prestige can be just as valuable to A24 as box office dollars.
Marty Supreme‘s Oscar nominations and Golden Globe win have brought A24 a lot of attention, and it should garner even more if it earns Timothée Chalamet’s first Academy Award win after two previous Best Actor nominations (for Call Me By Your Name and A Complete Unknown).
Therefore, the fact that Marty Supreme is connecting with both general audiences and Academy voters is a strong sign that the movie has already proven itself to be a valuable asset to A24’s portfolio.
