Rebilas-Imagn Images Yankees left fielder Jasson Dominguez will have a CT scan on Thursday in New York after X-rays on his left elbow were inconclusive on Wednesday in Arlington, Texas.
Dominguez came out of the Yankees’ 3-0 defeat to the Texas Rangers after being hit on the elbow by Nathan Eovaldi’s 89.1 mph cutter in the fourth inning. He was hunched over in pain and initially stayed in the game after being attended to by the team’s trainer.
Max Schuemann replaced Dominguez in the field before the next half-inning.
“It got me right in the elbow,” Dominguez said postgame. “As of right now, I don’t feel any concern. … Right when it hit me, my arm went numb a little bit, but (since) it’s just been swelling.”
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said of the injury, “You hate seeing that. Hopefully, the tests reveal not much and it’s just bruising, and we’ll work through it. But unknown at this point.”
Dominguez was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday and started twice as designated hitter before getting the start in left field on Wednesday. He went 1-for-9 in the three games.
The 23-year-old switch hitter debuted with four homers in eight games in September 2023 before undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. Last season, Dominguez batted .257 with 10 homers and 47 RBIs in 123 games but saw his playing time diminish after the All-Star break.

Kieron Pollard isn’t ready to concede the Indian Premier League (IPL) season just yet. Even as Mumbai Indians slumped to a sixth defeat in eight games — failing to defend 243 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium — the batting coach struck a note of defiance, insisting the fight within the group remains intact.
“We need to play that complete game of cricket to win a match because it’s getting difficult, the way the game is going,” Pollard said. “But what I can safely say, in the dressing room, the spirits of the guys —they are willing and wanting to fight.”
It has been a campaign of near-misses and unravelled moments for Mumbai Indians, now staring at the brink of elimination. Yet, Pollard was keen to place the setback in perspective.
“These things happen. You could have been worse off. At the end of it, we are still playing a game of cricket. There are a lot of other things more serious in life as well,” he said. “Two teams play. You win some, you lose some. We have been on the losing side. So yes, we have accepted that.”
Pollard, however, was quick to distinguish between acknowledging losses and conceding the campaign.
“When I said defeat, I didn’t want the headlines to be that Mumbai Indians are defeated. Mathematically and from a points perspective, we are still very much in the tournament,” he said.
“We have accepted losses because we have lost in the last couple of games. But overall, we have not accepted defeat in this tournament. We are still looking to go back, see what we can do and how far we can get.”

Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images Texas outfielder Brandon Nimmo exited the Rangers’ 3-0 win over the New York Yankees due to right hamstring tightness on Wednesday in Arlington, Texas, but he is optimistic he won’t miss additional action.
Nimmo sustained the injury while beating out a fifth-inning single off first baseman Ben Rice’s glove, and it worsened as he went from second to third on a groundout by Joc Pederson. He was replaced by pinch runner Sam Haggerty, who then took over in left field while Alejandro Osuna moved over to right field.
After the game, Nimmo said he was hopeful he would be ready to play on Friday at Detroit. The Rangers are idle on Thursday.
“I’m not concerned about it,” Nimmo said. “It just is something that, if you continue to push through, can turn into something bigger. … If tomorrow we were playing, maybe we would utilize the DH, to be sure.
“I anticipate to be available to play right field on Friday.”
Acquired from the New York Mets in a November trade for Marcus Semien, Nimmo is hitting .290 with four homers and 12 RBIs in his first 31 games for the Rangers.
After being frequently injured early in his career with the Mets, Nimmo missed a combined 39 games over the past four seasons. In his final season for the Mets, Nimmo set career highs with 25 homers and 92 RBIs in a career-best 155 games.
