JD Vance Says Wife Usha’s Pregnancy Proves He ‘Practices What He Preaches’

Vice President JD Vance believes his wife Usha Vance’s pregnancy is proof that he means business.

“Now some of you may remember that in my remarks last year, I told you all that one of the things I most wanted in the United States of America was more families and more babies,” JD, 41, shared in his speech at the 2026 March for Life rally in Washington, D.C., on Friday, January 23. “So let the record show, you have a vice president who practices what he preaches.”

While receiving a round of applause from the crowd, the vice president reminded listeners that he and his wife announced earlier this week that they are expecting their fourth child. The couple already share Ewan, 8, Vivek, 5, and Mirabel, 4.

“It will be our third baby boy, so we’ll take whatever prayers you can give — we certainly need them,” he said. “When I was here last year, I had one other piece of advice for this group and that was very simple — to be joyful in your advocacy. And looking out at this crowd today, it seems like you took that suggestion very well to heart because I see joyful people. I see grandmas. I see parents.”

JD continued, “I see beautiful little kids with incredible green hats. Now, did you all dress like that so that if you lost yourselves, you could find everybody? OK, that’s a good plan.”

The March for Life is described by organizers as the largest annual human rights and anti-abortion demonstration in the world.

Participants from all across the country converge in Washington, D.C. and march on Capitol Hill to remember the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, which legalized abortion in all 50 states.

“The theme of this year’s March for Life, as most of you all know, is that life is a gift. And I know for me personally, this year, there is so much to be thankful for,” JD shared in his speech via Real Clear Politics. “I’m grateful to my own family, for my beautiful wife Usha, and that God has given us the miracle of new life again.”

JD and Usha’s love story began when they were both students at Yale Law School. The pair met when they joined a discussion group on “social decline in white America.”
