New US Trailer for ‘Crazy Old Lady’ Extra Creepy Spanish Horror Film

“You need to take your meds!” Shudder has unveiled a new official US trailer for an indie horror film from Spain called Crazy Old Lady, made by the Argentinian filmmaker Martín Mauregui. A man is asked by his ex-girlfriend to care temporarily for her senile mother, Alicia, in her house. But Alicia won’t let him leave, turning a simple task into a nightmare he must escape. This premiered at the 2025 Fantastic Fest & Sitges Film Festival last fall, to some strong reviews say the film is “filled with dread, suspense, and the heartbreak of caring for an ailing parent.” Executive produced by fellow horror filmmaker J.A. Bayona, and starring Spanish film-legend Carmen Maura, the horror film follows Pedro (Daniel Hendler) who goes to look after Alicia. But what seems like a very simple task soon turns into his worst nightmare when Alicia refuses to him go, tormenting for pain she endured in her tormented past that she believes he inflected upon her. One stormy evening, Pedro answers a desperate call from his ex-girlfriend, Laura. He agrees to spend the night looking after her senile mother, Alicia, whose nurse has mysteriously vanished. But the moment he steps inside the house, Pedro feels something is very wrong: Alicia doesn’t seem to recognize him, and he realizes she actually mistakes him for Cesar, a past lover with whom she shared terrible secrets. As night draws on, Pedro is held captive in the house by Alicia, who displays an increasingly twisted determination to make him – or rather Cesar – pay for the pain she endured in her tormented past. Crazy Old Lady, also known as Vieja Loca in Spanish, is written & directed by Argentinian gerne filmmaker Martín Mauregui, director of the film Love (Part One) previously and many shorts. Produced by Belén Atienza, J.A. Bayona, Ramón Campos, Gabriela Carcova, Víctor Fandiño, Agustina Llambi-Campbell. This premiered at the 2025 Fantastic Fest & Sitges Film Festival last year, and first opened in Spain last fall. Shudder debuts Mauregui’s Crazy Old Lady film streaming on Shudder starting February 27th, 2026 this winter. Anyone interested?
