Mar. 3—WORTHINGTON — The Worthington FFA Chapter recognized members for a variety of achievements and honors during the annual FFA Banquet Monday evening at Worthington High School.

Star Award winners include Emma Hietbrink with the Star Greenhand, Kennedy Woodbury with the Star in Ag Placement and Jack Bomgaars with the Star Entrepreneur honor.

Inducted into the Worthington FFA Chapter’s roll of honorary membership were Tony Hastings and Dusty Neugebauer, who were recognized for their longstanding contributions and support for the organization. Both were presented with plaques.

Each year, the chapter recognizes top students in each grade level with Leadership and Scholarship awards. Leadership Awards were presented to freshman Raylen Teerink, sophomore Dillion Zepeda, junior Brandt Joens and senior Victor Fernandez Chavez. Scholarship Award winners included freshman Kierra Reetz, sophomore Bree Luinenburg, junior Kaitlyn Mulder and senior Dylan Harms.

Several scholarships were also awarded during the evening as well, with Liv Vander Kooi presented with the Jerry Russell scholarship, Myranda Widboom with the Lowell Haack scholarship and Dylan Harms and Hannah Hill with the Wyffels Seed scholarship.

Leadership Development awards were presented to Liv Vander Kooi in Prepared Public Speaking, Paige Barber in Extemporaneous Speaking and Kennedy Woodbury in Employment Skills.

Four members were recognized Monday night for being State FFA Degree recipients. The state degree awards will be presented during the Minnesota FFA Convention in late April. Receiving the state degree are Paige Barber, Jack Bomgaars, Myranda Widboom and Kennedy Woodbury.

Additional awards presented during the evening were the Retiring President’s gavel to Madison Sieve, the DeKalb Senior plaque to Jack Bomgaars and the Golden Spatula to Paige Barber for her contributions to the FFA foodstand during the Nobles County Fair last summer.
