Focus Features has shared the full trailer for Obsession, its newest supernatural horror thriller about a young man whose wish for love leads him to face its dark consequences.
Following its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, the movie is now slated to arrive in U.S. theaters on May 15, 2026. Ahead of its theatrical release, the film has already received a Tomatometer rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 35 reviews.

What do we know about Obsession?
“After breaking the mysterious ‘One Wish Willow’ to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price,” reads the official synopsis.
Obsession is written and directed by Curry Barker (Milk & Serial), who also served as the film’s editor. The ensemble cast includes Michael Johnston (Slash) as Bear, Inde Navarrette (Superman & Lois) as Nikki, Cooper Tomlinson (Treasure Trackers) as Ian, Megan Lawless (The Hate U Give) as Sarah, and Andy Richter (Elf) as Carter. The horror movie is produced by James Harris for Teashop Productions, Haley Nicole Johnson for Under the Shell, Christian Mercuri for Capstone Pictures, and Roman Viaris. Executive producers are Jason Blum for Blumhouse, Leonora Darby and Mark Lane for Teashop, and David Haring and Ruzanna Kegeyan for Capstone Pictures.
The creative team also consists of cinematographer Taylor Clemons, composer Rock Burwell, production designer Vivian Gray, and costume designer Blair James. Focus Features acquired the rights to the movie’s North American theatrical distribution through a $14 million deal. The movie was the runner-up for the People’s Choice Award during its TIFF premiere. Afterward, the movie also had sold-out screenings at Fantastic Fest.
