“I have a plan to get out” Samuel Goldwyn Films has unveiled an official US trailer for a French thriller film called 13 Days, 13 Nights, based on a true story of the events in Kabul, Afghanistan in 2021. As US troops withdraw from Afghanistan, the Taliban seize power, sending the city into chaos. Afghan troops guard the French embassy. Tasked with evacuating 500 people amid chaos, facing grave risks as they attempt to flee from a falling city. Inside the compound, Commander Mohamed Bida struggles to maintain order while the situation outside collapses. He enters negotiations with the Taliban to organize a final convoy to the airport, the only possible escape route. At his side is Eva, a young Franco-Afghan translator & humanitarian whose courage and resolve prove essential to the mission. Together, they walk a razor’s edge between diplomacy, authority, and moral responsibility, where every choice carries life-or-death consequences. For 13 days and 13 nights, the embassy becomes both sanctuary and trap. Exhaustion sets in, fear mounts, and hope flickers among those waiting behind its walls. Starring Roschdy Zem, Lyna Khoudri, Sidse Babett Knudsen, and Christophe Montenez in this tense survival thriller. Kabul, August 15, 2021. As US troops are preparing to withdraw from Afghanistan, the Taliban storm the capital and seize power, plunging the city into total chaos. Commander Mohamed Bida and his men must ensure security of the French Embassy, the final Western stronghold. Trapped inside along with hundreds of civilians, Bida—with the help of Eva, a young French-Afghan humanitarian worker—must negotiate with the Taliban to organize a convoy in a last-ditch attempt to evacuate. Thus begins a race against time to reach the airport and flee the hell of Kabul before it’s too late. 13 Days, 13 Nights, also known as 13 jours, 13 nuits in French, is directed by acclaimed French filmmaker Martin Bourboulon, director of films Daddy or Mommy, Divorce French Style, Eiffel, both The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan & The Three Musketeers: Milady previously, and some other TV work as well. The screenplay is written by Alexandre Smia and Martin Bourboulon. Produced by Khaled Haffad, Dimitri Rassam, Ardavan Safaee. This initially premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and opened in France in June last year.
