Renate Reinsve broke from her Louis Vuitton awards season run on Friday night, arriving at the Women in Film Oscars Nominees Celebration in Los Angeles in one of Khaite’s fall 2026 looks: a strict black velvet jacket up top, then a pale satin skirt with a print popping out between the pleats.

The “Sentimental Value” Oscar nominee wore look 16 from Catherine Holstein’s fall 2026 runway, starting with the Khaite Rolo double-breasted velvet jacket. Strong shoulders squared off the silhouette, black buttons closed in a neat double-breasted formation and the front opened just enough to leave a strip of midriff visible above the waistband. A gold wallet chain dropped from the waist in two loose loops over the Khaite Adara crushed satin maxi skirt.

The skirt softened the look back up. Pale satin gave it a full, rounded shape with deep pleats and a long hem, but the main point sat in the painted panel at the front: a red-haired woman, head bent over a letter, sketched in soft gray lines with darker blocks of brown, blue and red concentrated lower down. A gold chain with a cross dropped from the waist in two loose loops, adding a little looseness to an otherwise severe shape.
That split between severity and softness tracked neatly with what Holstein sent out in February. In her WWD review of Khaite’s fall 2026 presentation, Emily Mercer pointed to the designer’s “authoritative mix of soft versus hard” and “strict, structured tailoring,” language that fits easily here. Reinsve’s look took that proposition almost literally: hard velvet on top, liquid satin below, then a painted figure breaking up the eveningwear polish before it could get too straightforward.

The Best Actress nominee paired the Khaite look with sharply pointed toe pumps. The look was styled by Kara Welch.
It also stood apart from the wardrobe Reinsve has kept through the rest of this Oscar cycle. The “Sentimental Value” nominee wore custom Louis Vuitton to the Golden Globes and another custom Louis Vuitton look at the BAFTA Film Awards, where she added an Auter hooded Mongolian piece in noir. For her first Academy Awards nomination in 2022, she also turned to Louis Vuitton, wearing a black-and-white embroidered dress from the house’s spring 2022 collection. Reinsve has worn other labels for lower-key appearances, including Mugler, The Row and Ami Paris, but as a Louis Vuitton “Friend of the House,” she has continued to rely on the brand for the season’s major awards stops.
Reinsve earned her latest Best Actress nomination for Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value,” a Norwegian drama about two sisters reconnecting with their estranged filmmaker father after their mother’s death. Reinsve stars alongside Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Stellan Skarsgård in the film, which centers on family rupture, memory and art.
