Afrobeats star Ayra Starr is making her acting debut in the upcoming film Children of Blood and Bone, an adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s best-selling fantasy novel. NBA star James Harden is facing a negligence lawsuit in connection with an alleged sexual assault that took place at his Houston mansion on New Year’s Eve. According to legal documents, plaintiff Marisa Watley claims she was sexually assaulted by Harden’s nephew, Justice Armani Blackburn, during the party while she was unconscious. Watley’s lawsuit argues that Harden and his security team acted negligently, alleging that her friends were removed from the property by security while she remained inside, unresponsive. Efforts by Watley’s sister to alert Harden’s team reportedly went unheeded after security misidentified her in a photo and failed to take action, the complaint states.

The 15-page suit further alleges that Harden is “vicariously liable” for the conduct of his security team and their employer, both of whom are also named as defendants. In a public statement, Watley expressed deep frustration, saying, “It is painful to imagine that this all could have been stopped in time.” Her legal team commended her bravery in coming forward, vowing to seek justice through the civil court system.
