Kaia Gerber has lent her talents to the French ballet flat brand Repetto.

The actress and model conceived the short film “In Bloom,” which she learned to dance for, and developed two footwear styles for the capsule collection in collaboration with Repetto CEO and president Charlotte Gaucher.

“Ballet flats have always been a part of my wardrobe,” Gerber told FN via email interview. “I’ve always been drawn to their understated elegance and the freedom they offer. Repetto, in particular, represents a very instinctive idea of French style to me, something refined yet effortless. I love pieces that move with the body and this type of shoe has always embodied that sense of lightness and quiet confidence.”

The capsule’s Kaia style is inspired by Repetto’s Cendrillon ballet flat while the Pina style is named for choreographer Pina Bausch who was known to dress her dancers in mary janes. The bow-adorned Kaia, subtly elevated by a 2 cm heel, is crafted from soft suede leather and presented in four colors: black, classic blue, flame red and pommard red.

The Pina, meanwhile, is done in matte leather and offers more of a lift with a 4.5 cm heel while the strap across the foot brings in the mary jane element. The two color options for the Pina are black and a deep red wine hue.

In a personal touch, each shoe features Gerber’s handwritten signature stamped on the insole. The Kaia is priced at 320 euros while the Pina is at 390 euros; they launched on Friday on Repetto’s website, in boutiques and department stores.

Gerber said of the shoe designs, “What I love about this collection is how naturally it reflects my own vision of femininity, something modern, refined and easy to live in. I feel connected to both styles, as they are inspired by muses I’ve always admired and aspired to in different ways, such as Jane Birkin. Each design expresses a distinct attitude while sharing the same sense of effortless elegance and freedom of movement.”

As part of the collaboration, Gerber stars in a short film titled “In Bloom,” directed by Neels Castillon and choreographed by Fanny Sage. Going all in for the endeavor, the “Palm Royale” actress learned to dance, taking part in intense training with Sage over the course of several months in Paris, Los Angeles and London.

In the film, shot on 16mm and showcasing black-and-white contrasted by subtle color, Gerber is dressed in garments hand‑stitched by Anne‑Marie Legrand, head of costume at the Paris Opera’s atelier. The film showcases Gerber alone in a studio after a photo shoot as she follows an invisible impulse, and her movements become increasingly free and unreserved: she is “in bloom.”

Sharing her admiration of Repetto and how it approaches ballet footwear, Gerber shared, “What resonates with me most is their authentic connection to the world of dance. Every pair carries a sense of dedication and craftsmanship that feels incredibly meaningful. I’m inspired by this balance, the fusion between strength and softness and by the way Repetto translates movement into something tangible through design.”

In a statement, Gaucher spoke of working with Gerber: “Our ongoing dialogue with Kaia shaped every layer of the project, from the movement explored in the film to the creative decisions behind the collection. I was deeply moved by the discipline, generosity, and authenticity she brought to the work. Our artisans in Dordogne, our creative teams, and Kaia worked with the same rhythm, the same commitment; that collective energy is what gives this project its depth.”

The collaboration also benefits the Repetto Foundation, which aims to make dance accessible to as many people as possible.
