First Look Teaser for Drift Racing Movie ‘Drifter’ Made by Sung Kang

“You just got raw instinct and no experience. Get ready to drift! An intriguing 30-second teaser trailer has debuted for a film titled Drifter – which is directed by actor Sung Kang and also starring himself in the lead role. Kang is best known for playing Han in the Fast & Furious movies ever since 2006, a character he first portrayed in Better Luck Tomorrow (2002). Now he’s making his own movie about drift racing called Drifter, in which he plays a talented driver who finally gets a chance to prove himself. A lonely custodian discovers purpose and community when he enters the world of competitive drift racing. Sung Kang stars as Tree, with a cast including Tamara Braun, Gregory Cruz, Emelia Hartford, Shane Johnson, James Pumphrey, and Michael Nehring. This is an indie project but no final details on when it’s premiering or debuting in theaters – keep an eye out for it soon anyway. The final shot in this with the camera flipping all around is awesome. Hopefully there’s more of that radness in this film – can’t wait to see even more footage.

In a forgotten desert town, a solitary racetrack janitor named Tree (Sung Kang) with a gift for drifting is haunted by his tragic past. Given a single chance to compete at a pro drifting event, he discovers his raw talent is useless without the one thing that he’s always avoided: connection with others. Under a hardened mentor, he must learn to trust his found family and transform his untamed, lonely art into a dangerous dance of partnership, or be consumed and controlled by the past that he’s desperate to escape. Drifter is directed by Korean-American actor / filmmaker Sung Kang, director of the film Shaky Shivers previously, now making his second feature. The screenplay is written by Ted Chung, Sung Kang, Aaron Strongoni. Produced by Ted Chung, Brian Yang, Sung Kang. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know.
