After a first release in 2015, Nike’s candy apple red Foamposites are making a comeback.

More specifically, it’s the Nike Air Foamposite Pro in Gym Red that’s prepped for its first-ever reissue in May. The upcoming rerelease is a near one-to-one re-creation of the ’15 original, although there are some subtle differences worth mentioning.

The shoe is clad in a nearly all-red look, a testament to its mid-2010s origins. This includes a glossy red polyurethane Foamposite shell, a large TPU Swoosh, a two-tone black-and-red carbon fiber support shank and black rubber traction pods on the outsole. 

Unique to this Air Foamposite Pro is a snakeskin-textured finish along the eyestay, although it looks like Nike chose to omit one of the style’s other defining features for this reissue. The previous ’15 iteration included a checkered carbon fiber print across the entire Foamposite upper, an effect which has seemingly been stripped from the upcoming ’26 version.

The original Gym Red Air Foamposite Pro was released in the footsteps of 2014’s Nike Air Yeezy 2 “Red October,” a sneaker which kicked off a flood of other all-red athletic footwear looks. This resulted in the Gym Red Foamposite Pro style along with red-covered Air Max 90s, Air Huaraches, Air Max Plus and more. 

Given that the ’15 Foamposite release was connected to such an era-specific trend, it will be interesting to see if the upcoming reissue can generate the same sort of buzz.

Also set to make a return in the Foamposite franchise is the Voltage Air Foamposite Pro, an original style from 1997 which is set to receive its first-ever reissue in May.

The Nike Air Foamposite Pro Gym Red will be released on May 29 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Nike Sportswear retailers for $240. The style code for the Gym Red/Black sneaker is HF0794-600. Ahead of the launch, readers can find full detailed e-commerce images below.
