Viewers have begun to think that Deidre Hall, who plays Marlena Evans, might be leaving Days of Our Lives soon. Debuting in 1976, Marlena was introduced as a psychiatrist of Mickey Horton. Later, in 1999, she married John Black. The ongoing storyline witnesses her grieving the loss of her husband. With Black now gone, many believe that her character might also be written off. But, is this speculation true? Here are the details.
Is Deidre Hall’s Marlena Evans leaving Days of Our Lives again?
Neither any confirmed reports nor Hall has confirmed that she is leaving Days of Our Lives. So, the rumors seem false.
The rumors stemmed from the latest storyline, which witnessed the demise of John Black. For those unaware, John went to Estonia on a top-secret ISA mission. He completely disappeared after, following which Steve and Marlena made multiple attempts to search for him. Later, ISA found him and decided to bring him back. He returned last month, with his back to the camera, and aided Steve with an experimental drug to cure Bo’s sepsis. Unfortunately, the lab exploded, causing him severe injuries and leading to his death.
In reality, Drake Hogestyn, who portrayed John Black, passed away in September 2024 after battling pancreatic cancer. With John Black now out of the picture, many have begun to think that Hall’s Evans might retire or be written off in the upcoming days. However, this rumor has not been confirmed.
Notably, Hall’s Marlena had earlier left the show briefly due to budgetary cuts. In 2009, she and Drake Hogestyn’s Black were removed as part of the network’s cost-saving measure. On the story front, they were sent out of town to get medical attention for Black’s injuries. Nevertheless, the removal was temporary, and the on-screen couple rejoined the show in 2011.
