“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” star Walker Scobell wrote on his Instagram Story Sunday that he will be skipping his high school prom because many of his prospective dates have received death threats from obsessive fans.

“Just to let everyone know, I will not be attending prom,” he wrote. “Please stop sending death threats to EVERY teenage girl who could remotely be associated with me based on their proximity to where I live. It’s not fair to them or to their families. Maybe also just stop sending death threats in general. That’s just not cool. Kinda weird I have to say this.”

Scobell stars in “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” as the titular son of Poseidon. Other cast members include Leah Sava’ Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, Daniel Diemer and Glynn Turman. Adapted from Rick Riordan’s widely popular YA book series, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” follows Percy and his demigod friends as they learn to harness their powers at Camp Half-Blood and embark on mythical quests.

The first season of “Percy Jackson,” which streams on Hulu and Disney+, was released in December 2023. Season 2 premiered in Dec. 2025. The show was renewed for Season 3 in March 2025, ahead of its Season 2 premiere. The third season is expected to be released late 2026, and will follow the events of Riordan’s third book in his “Lightning Thief” saga, “The Titan’s Curse.”

In Variety’s review of “Percy Jackson” Season 2, TV critic Aramide Tinubu wrote that the second season stood “just as tall as the first,” and boasted “much higher stakes” and an “expansive world is only getting juicier and more robust.”
