Chennaiyin FC’s Elsinho out for rest of ISL 2025-26 season Chennaiyin FC’s defender Elsinho has been ruled out for the rest of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 season after sustaining a knee injury during his side’s 1-3 loss against East Bengal on Saturday.
In a statement on social media on Sunday, the club said, “Chennaiyin FC can confirm that Elsinho sustained a knee injury during our match against East Bengal FC.”
“He has been diagnosed with a ruptured Medial Patellofemoral Retinaculum (MPFL) & will be ruled out for the remainder of the season,” it added.

He got injured just seven minutes into the game when he lost out on the ball in the middle of the pitch. CFC players switched off, and East Bengal capitalised on the situation to take the lead through Edmund Lalrindika.
The Brazilian signed for the two-time ISL champion in 2024 and has made 29 appearances across all competitions, scoring once in that time.
CFC currently sits 12th in the table with five points from seven games, ahead of Kerala Blasters (4) and Mohammedan Sporting (0).
