According to ground officials, the pitch will offer good pace and bounce, paving away for an equal battle between bat and ball. Punjab Kings has played 14 matches at this venue, winning five, losing eight and one match ended without a result.

The May 11 fixture between PBKS and DC will be the first IPL match at the venue since the same fixture was halted midway last season following reports of drone incursions within a 100-kilometre radius.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, present at the venue, was seen assisting officials and spectators in vacating the premises, stepping in during a situation the tournament had never faced before.

Romo, 24, is hitting .298 with three doubles, four home runs, 11 RBIs and 11 runs in 17 games with Charlotte. The White Sox claimed the switch-hitter off waivers from the New York Mets on Jan. 8. He has limited major league experience, appearing in 19 games over the past two seasons with the Colorado Rockies. He hit .167 (9-for-54) with no home runs and six RBIs but threw out 23.8 percent (5-21) of runners attempting to steal a base with the Rockies. McGuire, 31, appeared in 11 games as a backup to Edgar Quero and hit .172 (5-of-29) with three RBIs. Kyle Teel typically shares the job with Quero but has yet to play this season because of a hamstring injury suffered in the World Baseball Classic. As a rookie in 2025, he hit .273 with eight homers and 35 RBIs in 78 games — 61 of them at catcher. The defending champion moved 11 points clear of second-placed Real Madrid, which drew at Real Betis on Friday to dent its hopes of finishing the season with a trophy.

Hansi Flick’s side can win its second consecutive Spanish title if it overcomes Osasuna next weekend and Real Madrid fails to beat Espanyol.

Barcelona was without vital injured wingers Lamine Yamal and Raphinha but still did enough to see off Jose Bordalas’s tricky side, sixth, in the Madrid suburbs.

“We were aware of what was going to happen here, we were going to have few chances, and I think we played well, competing well defensively and putting away the chances we had,” Lopez told Movistar.

“We know we’ve got a big advantage (in the title race) but even so, we can’t relax, I know it’s a cliche but it’s the truth,” he added.
