We now know who is taking over for the hole left by Helena Bonham Carter on The White Lotus…it’s Laura Dern!
If you did not see the news, the Oscar-nominated actress has dropped out of the popular HBO anthology series after production had already started one week prior.

A spokesperson said at the time, “HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon.”
Now, it looks like Laura will be joining the cast.
Variety notes: “Dern is not taking over the exact role Bonham Carter was to play, however. Instead, she is playing a new character developed by series mastermind Mike White.”
Here’s the logline for the new season: The fourth season will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week, taking place during the Cannes Film Festival.
The core cast includes Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani, and Nadia Tereszkiewicz. Find out which other cast members are involved in the France-set season.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival runs from May 12 to May 23.
