“Night’s almost over, we’re running out of time!” Universal has revealed the first official trailer for a super cute romantic comedy called One Night Only, the next new hot romcom event from the same director of the super hot Anyone But You romcom. With a similar premise about attractive people orbiting each other trying to decide if they should try to be a couple or not. “What would you do if you only had one night?” Two New Yorkers search for love on the one night of the year when sex is legal. What if one messy night turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to you? This summer, filmmaker Will Gluck celebrates modern romantic comedy on the big screen with a fresh, witty, swoony original film about searching for love on the least romantic night of the year. Starring Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner as Allie and Owen, two love-starved strangers who crash into each other this night. Also starring Maya Hawke, Julia Fox, indie pop sensation King Princess, Ben Marshall, Ziwe, and the screen legends Molly Ringwald and Levar Burton. What a peculiar sci-fi concept for a romcom? But sure – I could watch these two all day, every day.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Will Gluck’s romcom One Night Only, direct from YouTube:

Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner star as Allie and Owen, two love-starved strangers who crash into each other in an ever-so-slightly fictionalized New York City on one night of the year when single people are allowed to have sex. Recently dumped Owen and hopeful romantic Allie might be the only two singles in the city looking for more than just a quick encounter. They feel a spark when they meet, but a series of missteps and side quests complicate their night, keeping them apart. As they each race toward and away from each other across the city, they just might discover that the one thing they want most is closer than they think. One Night Only is directed by American comedy filmmaker Will Gluck, director of the movies Fired Up!, Easy A, Friends with Benefits, Annie, How May We Hate You?, both Peter Rabbit movies, and Anyone But You previously. The screenplay is written by Travis Braun, and by Will Gluck. Produced by Will Gluck and his company Olive Bridge Entertainment, and by Jacqueline Monetta. Universal Pictures debuts Gluck’s One Night Only comedy in theaters nationwide starting August 7th, 2026 this summer. Who’s in?
