Audiences will have to wait a few months longer to see “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew,” with the release date pushed back from Thanksgiving to February 12, 2027.

In addition to relaunching “Narnia” on big screens and serving as writer-director Greta Gerwig’s first film since “Barbie,” “The Magician’s Nephew” also looks like the next step in Netflix’s relationship with movie theaters — and it’s becoming an even bigger step with the delay.







The company had previously said “The Magician’s Nephew” would play exclusively on Imax screens for at least two weeks before a streaming release for Christmas. That would be an ambitious theatrical release by Netflix’s standards, but relatively limited compared to many other Hollywood blockbusters.

Now, Netflix says “The Magician’s Nephew” will begin exclusive Imax previews on February 10, 2027, followed by a wide global release in theaters on February 12. (In Netflix’s words, it will be a “global eventized release.”) The movie won’t start streaming until April 2.

The company’s announcement doesn’t get more specific about which theaters will be showing “The Magician’s Nephew,” but Imax released a statement noting that the delay will allow the film to have “a full theatrical window,” so the major theater chains are unlikely to complain

In fact, AMC Theatres recently highlighted the success of  its“Stranger Things” finale screenings and said it has plans for more collaborations with Netflix. At the same time, the streamer’s limited support for theatrical releases and its resistance to exclusive theatrical windows was reportedly a “dealbreaker” in negotiations with the creators of “Stranger Things,” who ultimately signed an exclusive deal with Paramount.

With a cast that includes Daniel Craig and Meryl Streep, “The Magician’s Nephew” adapts one of the later books in C.S. Lewis’ classic fantasy series —  a prequel that lays out the origins of Narnia.

एक नियोक्ता के रूप में अपने कर्मचारियों के साथ खड़े हैं।</p> <h3> भर्ती कुशलकर्मी के तौर पर वेतन अकुशल श्रमिकों जैसा</h3> <p> जर्मनी जाने का कुशलकर्मी वीज़ा पाने के लिए श्रमिकों को अपनी शैक्षणिक योग्यता प्रमाणित करनी होती है, तभी वे जर्मनी में कसाई के रूप में काम कर सकते हैं। इस योग्यता के लिए कसाई बनने का बाक़ायदा मान्यता प्राप्त शिक्षण-प्रशिक्षण मिला होना चाहिए। हालांकि जांची गई वेतन पर्चियों से पता चला कि कंपनी में उन्हें केवल उत्पादन सहायक के तौर पर वेतन दिया जाता है। पूछताछ करने पर कंपनी का कहना था कि वह सभी कानूनी नियमों का पालन करती है।<br /> <br /> कहने के लिए तो कसाई का काम करने वाले श्रमिकों को प्रति घंटे 14.50 यूरो के हिसाब से पूरे महीने प्रतिदिन 8 घंटे काम के लिए कुल मिलाकर 2320 यूरो वेतन मिलना चाहिए, पर जर्मनी में लागू आयकर तथा स्वास्थ्य, पेंशन, बेरोज़गारी, नर्सिंग और दुर्घटना जैसे समयों के लिए अनिवार्य बीमा नियमों के कारण महीने के अंत में 1700 यूरो ही मिल सकते हैं। मांस उद्योग के श्रमिकों के आवास के किराए और परिवहन आदि का ख़र्च काट कर अंत में उन्हें 1300 यूरो के आसपास ही वेतन मिल पाता है।</p> <h3> किसी भी समय बर्ख़ास्तगी</h3> <p> एक पत्रकार जर्मन मांस उत्पादी कंपनियों के लिए श्रमिकों की भर्ती करने वाली दक्षिणी जर्मनी की एक एजेंसी के साथ अपनी पहचान छिपाते हुए हफ्तों तक गोपनीय संपर्क बनाए रखने में सफल रहे। अतीत में वह एजेंसी कंपनी के लिए भी अन्य देशों देशों से 100 से अधिक लोगों की भर्ती कर चुकी है। गोपनीय पत्रकारों से बातचीत में इस दूसरी एजेसी के प्रबंध-निदेशक ने बताया कि तीसरे देशों से आए श्रमिकों को किसी भी समय (यहां तक कि परिवीक्षा (प्रोबेशन) अवधि के बाद भी) बर्ख़ास्त किया जा सकता है।<br /> <br /> अन्य देशों में सस्ते श्रमिकों की भर्ती करने वाली इस दूसरी एजेंसी के ग्राहकों में मांस उद्योग की अन्य कंपनियां भी शामिल थीं, जिनमें जर्मन मांस उद्योग की दिग्गज कंपनी भी शामिल है। इस कंपनी का कहना है कि उसके यहां श्रमिकों की भर्ती पूरी तरह से कानून के अनुसार की जाती है। उसके कहने के अनुसार, भारत से भर्ती किए गए उसके सभी श्रमिक आज भी काम कर रहे हैं।</p> <h3> बीमारी के कारण भी बर्ख़ास्तगी?</h3> <p> अन्य भारतीय श्रमिकों ने बताया कि उन्हें परिवीक्षा (प्रोबेशन) अवधि के दौरान बीमारी के कारण बर्खास्त कर दिया गया। इस नियुक्ति प्रणाली में नियोक्ता अक्सर आवास भी प्रदान करता है और किराया सीधे श्रमिकों के वेतन से काट लेता है, इसलिए उन्हें अपने रहने-सोने के कमरे भी खाली करने पड़े। एक पूछताछ के जवाब में कहा कि अतीत में कुछ मामलों में कर्मचारियों के साथ सहयोग समाप्त कर दिया गया है।<br /> <br /> कंपनी की नई योजना विशेष रूप से प्रभावित कर्मचारियों के लिए वित्तीय सहायता पैकेज स्थापित कर की है। अपनी जांच में पाया कि कंपनी ने वियतनाम में भर्ती किए गए कर्मचारियों से खुद भर्ती शुल्क वसूला था। कंपनी ने माना कि अस्थाई रूप से ऐसा भी हुआ है, लेकिन ऐसा वियतनाम में प्रचलित और कानूनी रूप से मान्य नियमों का पालन करते हुए हुआ। वे शुल्क उचित और न्यायसंगत थे। उनमें अन्य बातों के अलावा जर्मन भाषा के पाठ्यक्रम का ख़र्च भी शामिल था।</p> <p>  </p> <h3> मानवीय गरिमा का उल्लंघन</h3> <p> जर्मन मांस उद्योग अतीत में अपने श्रमिकों के शोषण और उनकी भर्ती के लिए ठेकेदारों को माध्यम बनाने के कारण सुर्खियों में रहा है। उस समय सुधार के कई वादे किए गए थे। राजनेताओं ने कड़े कानून बनाकर अपनी प्रतिक्रिया दी थी। इस क्षेत्र में ऐसे तथाकथित सेवा-अनुबंधों (सर्विस कॉन्ट्रैक्ट) पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया, जिनके अधीन कर्मचारियों को सीधे मांस कंपनियों द्वारा नहीं, बल्कि ठेकेदारों द्वारा नियोजित किया जाता था।<br /> <br /> मांस कंपनियों द्वारा अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी से बचने की इस प्रथा को हमेशा के लिए समाप्त किया जाना था। जर्मनी के सबसे अधिक जनसंख्या वाले नॉर्थ राइन-वेस्टफेलिया राज्य के श्रममंत्री, कार्ल-योज़ेफ लाउमान ने उस समय मांस उद्योग की स्थिति को संगठित गैरजि़म्मेदा के रूप में वर्णित किया था।<br /> <br /> किंतु उन्हीं लाउमान को आज के कानूनी ढांचे में बदलाव का कोई कारण नहीं दिखता। वे कहते हैं, यदि (विदेशी) कर्मचारियों को योग्य रोज़गार नहीं दिया जाता या उनके आने के बाद उन्हें वेतन नहीं दिया जाता, तो यह कानून का उल्लंघन है लेकिन इस उल्लंघन को रोकने के लिए क़ानून में किसी संशोधन की या कोई नया क़ानून बनाने की आवश्कता वे नहीं देखते।</p>

But what if we told you there’s a secret third option—one that scratches the Shirahama itch to bask in her bespoke artistry and trades the unspeakable horrors awaiting Coco for a side-splitting, utterly riotous comedy? Well, good, because we are. That option is her slept-on, pre-Witch Hat Atelier manga, Eniale & Dewiela.

 © Kamome Shirahama/Yen Press If Witch Hat Atelier is Shirahama in her grand adventure, Dragon Ball Z era, Eniale & Dewiela was her at peak Dr. Slump whimsy. Set in a world where heaven and hell coexist, the manga follows the unruly yet wildly endearing friendship between Eniale, the angel, and Dewiela, the demon—two gals tasked with collecting souls on Earth, a job they’d much rather procrastinate on by going shopping. Unfortunately for them, celestial bureaucracies run a tight ship, so shirking their duties only piles more work onto them.

 So they have their fun wherever they can get it by diving into a generational rivalry of soul-dollect, ducking exorcists, and doing the absolute most in the process to one-up each other. Naturally, their daily angel-devil routine spirals into chaos, ranging from the benign to the apocalyptic, making for a hilarious, short-but-sweet read.  			 				 			 				 				© Kamome Shirahama/Yen Press 				 			 				 			 				 				© Kamome Shirahama/Yen Press 				 		  For comparison, Eniale and Dewiela’s dynamic gives Bayonetta and Jeanne a touch of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, but with the debauchery dialed down from a raucous 11 to a mischievous five. In Witch Hat Atelier terms, Eni and Dewi read like the proto-blueprint for Agott’s tsundere bite and Coco’s sheepish naïveté reimagined as a madcap buddy comedy duo. Watching Shirahama remove her limiters and let these two wreak havoc—whether sabotaging each other’s soul quotas or teaming up to do the bare minimum—is a delight. And when they’re not butting heads, they’re simply gals being pals: shopping, scheming, and trying to live their best lives.

 What I love most about the manga is that it’s Shirahama fully in her comedic bag, writing slapstick gags with an elasticity and confidence that feel distinctly aged-up, in line with Witch Hat Atelier‘s gentler whimsy. With each chapter, you can feel her stretching, riffing, and letting herself be unserious in ways that WHA‘s tone doesn’t always allow. Coincidentally, the manga also teases her natural aptitude for sapphic-tinged storytelling that WHA fans—especially Arkco-truthers (we see you)—will clock immediately. The panel work is exquisite, the ornate borders feel like thumbing through an ancient tome, and the intricate detailing is as gobsmacking as ever. But here, that craft is in service of pure comedy. Across its three volumes, Shirahama unleashes a cavalcade of supernatural disasters born from the duo’s joint dumbassery—raising hordes of zombies while trying to turn a priest into both an angel and a demon, splitting the sea like Moses to find a missing earring, and firing a sky‑beam of souls straight into the heavens.

 And when the manga isn’t serving killer runway fashion, heavenly‑hellish hijinks, or a few sapphic glances, it’s got heart. The standout moment comes in chapter eight, where Dewiela goes from hovering over an old woman like a vulture waiting to collect her soul to befriending her and her “fugly” guard cat.
