The One Piece: Netflix Anime Remake Gets Release Date Window, Poster, Episode Count

The saga of One Piece sails on, as Netflix has revealed the first look at its remake of Eiichiro Oda’s best-selling manga, simply called The One Piece. The upcoming series will be produced by WIT Studio, starting from the East Blue story arc.

What is the update on Netflix’s The One Piece remake show?

Netflix unveiled the first poster for the original net animation series, dropping its release month in 2027 and episode count early for anime fans worldwide. The poster shows young Luffy in a bar in Windmill Village, surrounded by familiar faces like Shanks.

The reveal comes three years after Netflix’s 2023 announcement for the remake of the hit saga in collaboration with Shueisha, Fuji Television Network, and Toei Animation Co. Fans can expect a leaner, modern spin on the series that trims the original anime, which is known to have filler bloat.

The show’s first Season will cover the East Blue arc, which roughly makes up for the first 50 chapters of the manga. Season one of the show will lead up to Luffy’s encounter with Sanji.

With this announcement, Netflix has shown that they’re seriously committed to the One Piece franchise. The live-action adaptation recently finished its second Season, which, like the first, was a big hit with critics and audiences alike. Season 3 of the live-action One Piece series has also been greenlit, so fans of the franchise have a lot to look forward to in the coming years.

Besides that, Netflix also released a Lego One Piece special last year, breathing new life into the 25-year-old series. The franchise even saw DC Comics pay homage to it with the cover of a recent Absolute Batman comic.

The One Piece will debut on Netflix in February 2027, with the first Season consisting of seven episodes.
