Summer for Apple TV brings several new shows along with returning ones. From horror to drama and comedy, the slate is appealing to a wide variety of subscribers. However, one of the most anticipated releases is the brand-new season of Apple’s hit sci-fi drama which has kept viewers on their toes over two seasons. Season 3 premieres on July 3 and continues the tradition of delivering story twists set in a post-apocalyptic world.
That series is the Rebecca Ferguson-led dystopian drama Silo, which has been a strong performer for Apple TV. The series has been praised for its story and acting, with critics giving it a high rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Silo has an average critics’ score of 90%, with Ferguson being singled out for her magnetic performance as Juliette Nichols. Their consensus for the latest season explains: “Rebecca Ferguson’s intrepid hero seeks answers while the rest of Silo‘s ensemble capably holds down the fort in this superb sophomore season.”
Silo has delivered engaging twists for two seasons, but the third is going to be the biggest one. From expanding the story from one silo to many others, the series now takes huge swings as it expands the timeline to include the “Before Times.” Viewers will learn how the world ended and what that means for the future. But that doesn’t mean the drama in silo 18 will be abandoned, because when Juliette returns after her excursion to silo 17, the former silo survives the threat that destroyed the latter, but a “dangerous new threat” is coming for it. As more discoveries and revelations are made, the natural ending for this story also draws closer.
‘Silo’ Will End with Season 4
The series is adapted from Hugh Howey‘s book series of the same name, and his trilogy tells a complete story. Silo‘s team will not be taking much creative liberty with the events, so the show will end with Season 4, which has already been filmed. That means the wait between the seasons could be much shorter. “With the final two chapters of Silo, we can’t wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos,” series creator Graham Yost said in a statement.
Common (Robert Sims), Harriet Walter (Martha Walker), Chinaza Uche (Paul Billings), Avi Nash (Lukas Kyle), Alexandria Riley (Sandy), Shane McRae (Knox), Remmie Milner (Shirley), Rick Gomez (Patrick Kennedy), Billy Postlethwaite (Deputy Marnes), and Clare Perkins (Judge Meadows) return as main cast members for Season 3, joined by new cast members Laura Innes, Jessica Brown Findlay, Morven Christie, Reed Birney, Matt Craven, and Colin Hanks. Jessica Henwick, Ashley Zukerman, and Steve Zahn reprise their characters.
Silo Season 3 premieres on July 3 on Apple TV. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
