Xbox, Sung Kang Debut ‘Forza Horizon 6’ Jackets

Ahead of the May 19 launch of “Forza Horizon 6,” Xbox is teaming with actor and car enthusiast Sung Kang, Japanese music festival Zipangu and Los Angeles-based design studio Uprisers Lab on a limited-edition capsule centered on upcycled Japanese denim.

The collaboration includes two jacket styles inspired by Japan, the setting of the latest installment in the “Forza Horizon” racing franchise. Both versions are constructed from upcycled Japanese selvage denim and feature laser-etched graphics including cherry blossoms, Mount Fuji imagery, Japanese sports cars and “Forza Horizon 6” branding.

The Zipangu x “Forza Horizon 6” style features reflective 3M trim along the seams that becomes more visible under headlights or flash photography. Inside, the jacket includes a custom game-branded lining, a pocket sized for gaming controllers and a removable zipper pull designed as a collectible accent.

A second version developed with Kang takes a more artisanal approach.

Limited to six pieces, the jacket features a periwinkle-toned wash inspired by Tokyo’s evening skyline alongside the hand-sewn cherry blossom appliqués, sashiko-style patches and laser-etched references to Japanese drift culture and in-game iconography.

Inside the Sung Kang edition are several utility pockets, including compartments for controllers alongside rechargeable LED lighting threaded through the seams. The lighting system cycles through eight modes.

The collaboration launches alongside the inaugural Zipangu event on May 16 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. The festival, a large-scale celebration of Japanese music and culture, features artists such as Ado, Ataradhii Gakko! and Man With A Mission.

“As a celebration of Japan’s landscapes, energy and cultural influence, ‘Forza Horizon 6’ gave us an opportunity to create something fans could experience beyond the screen,” said Aaron Greenberg in a statement.

Michelle K. Hanabusa, founder and creative director of Uprisers Lab, said the project was intended to extend “the life of material and memory” through upcycled construction and storytelling-driven design.

Kang added that the collaboration merged “cars, culture and craftsmanship” through a project influenced by both Japanese street racing culture and his upcoming film “Drifter.”

“Forza Horizon 6” launches May 19 across Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Cloud and Steam, with a PlayStation 5 release planned later this year. Fans can enter to win pieces from the collection through Xbox’s Instagram account and at the Zipangu festival itself.
