Pattern Group Reports Strong Growth

MILAN — Reporting year-end sales growth and a spike in profitability, the publicly listed Pattern Group said that it has obtained the prestigious LEED v4 (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Building Design and Construction Certification, Platinum level, for its headquarters in Turin, Italy, inaugurated last October, achieving a score of 85 out of 110 points.

This is the highest level provided by the international protocol, which certifies excellence in terms of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and quality of spaces. The LEED certification program was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council and undergoes technical verification and review by Green Business Certification Inc.

Among the main elements that led the group to achieve LEED Platinum certification were high energy efficiency, the use of renewable sources, water resource management, and the quality of indoor environments.

Pattern Group was founded by Franco Martorella and Fulvio Botto in 2000 and operates in patternmaking, engineering, grading, prototyping and production of fashion collections for a range of luxury brands. It has been publicly listed in Milan since 2019.

It is helmed by chief executive officer Luca Sburlati and, in a joint statement with the founders, he said that “despite the geopolitical complexities of the markets, the investments of the group hinging on transparency, control of the supply chain and technologies are providing relevant results,” underscoring the focus on growth with a long-term industrial vision.

As of March 31, sales rose 19.3 percent to 27.6 million euros compared with 23.1 million euros in the same period last year. The growth was driven across the board by all group poles. The knitwear pole was up 17.1 percent, leather goods rose 46.6 percent and ready-to-wear gained 7.4 percent. Over the years, Pattern bought storied knitwear specialist Umbria Verde Mattioli, S.M.T. (Società Manifattura Tessile), Zanni, Roscini Atelier and Nuova Nicolo companies, among others.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization totaled 2.1 million euros compared with 30,000 euros, resulting from increased production efficiency and an industrial rationalization.

Pattern published its first Sustainability Report back in 2015 and was the first Italian company to join the UNFCCC’s Fashion for Global Climate Action initiative as a signatory to the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. In 2019, it achieved the ESG Rating with the international organization CDP to certify its path toward carbon neutrality.
