Now, she is making sure your back-to-school essentials are covered, starring in Nike’s new Studio Fleece campaign alongside the likes of fellow athletes such as Jazzy Davidson, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Lauren James, as well as stars like aespa’s Karina, among others.
Unveiled on July 30, the sportswear giant’s new campaign celebrates the launch of the Studio Fleece, a range of new, improved sweatsuit pieces—from cuffed sweatpants to both full-zip and pullover hoodies and much more—with new proportions, finishes, and key details to make up the perfect versatile arsenal for daily life and that Nike is calling “the ultimate uniform for the everyday athlete.”
“We thought through every detail to create the ultimate uniform for everyday life, with a Nike-only lens of performance innovation and product obsession,” Jill Gonzalez, senior manager of product line management at Nike, tells Teen Vogue.
For the new line, Nike got insight from more than 300 women around the world to inform the design choices, including Alysa Liu. To celebrate the launch and her involvement in the development process and campaign, Teen Vogue sat down with the 20-year-old figure skater to chat about what makes Studio Fleece stand out, her go-to comfy pieces, and her preferred back-to-school styling tricks.
Teen Vogue: You’ve been making so many headlines for your fashion the past couple of weeks. I know that they’ve been kind of high fashion, but the Studio Fleece is really pared down, cozy, simple. I just want to know, how do you feel most like yourself when you’re wearing those super glam outfits or when you’re cozy and getting ready for the day?
Alysa Liu: Honestly, both. I feel like I have a duality because as an athlete, we have our workout attire, and then I also love fashion so I can really get into it, but I love to try and incorporate it into my skating or when I work out and stuff like that. And with Studio Fleece, it’s very super comfortable. I love to dance and do choreography, and that’s part of my job as a figure skater. But with Studio Fleece, you could just throw on a pair of sweatpants and get to dancing. That’s really how it’d be. And so I don’t know, I think both are very me.
