Wednesday Spin-off Teased as Jenna Ortega Show Gets Exciting Season 3 Update

Netflix has officially granted an early Season 3 renewal to its popular coming-of-age mystery comedy, Wednesday. This comes ahead of the Jenna Ortega-led show’s highly anticipated return for Season 2, which will be divided into two parts. The first half will premiere on August 6, and the second part will arrive on September 3.

“Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” showrunner Alfred Gough teased during an interview with Tudum. “We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday,” co-creator Miles Millar adds, “We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!”

What do we know about a Wednesday spin-off?

Speaking with THR, Gough and Netflix executive Bela Bajaria confirmed that a Wednesday spin-off is currently in early discussions, teasing that the project might center around another member of the Addams Family. Further details about the potential spin-off are still being kept under wraps.

“It’s something we’re definitely noodling; there are other characters we can look at,” Gough said. Bajaria added, “There’s a lot to explore in the Addams Family.”

Wednesday is executive-produced and directed by Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride), based on the characters by cartoonist Charles Addams. Joining Ortega are returning cast members Emma Myers as Enid, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Hunter Doohan as Tyler, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene, and Georgie Farmer as Ajax.

Season 2 also introduces Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah B. Taylor, Steve Buscemi, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo, and Anthony Michael Hall, with Christopher Lloyd and Lady Gaga. The Back to the Future vet originally portrayed Fester Addams in the original live-action movies, where he co-starred alongside Anjelica Huston and Raúl Juliá.
