Last Week’s Best Dressed Stars Showcased The Power Of Intentional Style

Attempting to fetch from an empty well is never productive, but the same cannot be said for drawing endless inspiration from celebrities who pride themselves on snapping necks. Even with the recent lull in high-profile events, our favorite style stars have refused to dim their shine. Instead, Black celebrities continue to deliver a steady stream of stylish fits that demand attention. Slowdown or not, what we’re witnessing is nothing short of a fresh surge of originality from the style gods.

This past week, celebrity fits truly delivered, choking (in the best way possible) with creativity. Belts were layered with intention across oversized co-ords, while daring cutouts dismantled any attempt to label the looks as basic. In the mix, plunging necklines revealed radiant, deeply moisturized peeks of melanin in every shade, striking a balance between sensuality and sophistication. Meanwhile, makeup took a restrained turn—faces were luminous, glowing, and tastefully simple, ensuring the outfits remained the main event. The result? A reminder that fashion, when at its best, thrives on fearless experimentation.

The Looks

Viola Davis’s recent orange dress moment was nothing short of fire. She glowed in a vibrant citrus shade that stole hearts, amplifying her natural radiance. The sleek silhouette hugged her frame with ease, while a daring waist cut-out injected the perfect hit of dopamine-charged edge. Equal parts polished and playful, it was a look that radiated power and whispered icon with every step.

Shifting the palette but keeping the heat, Sarah Jakes Roberts embodied pure boss energy in a custom Anthony Lattimore cobalt-blue cape-sleeve jumpsuit. The monochrome look was magnetic: an electric blue that commanded the spotlight, sharp tailoring that declared ownership of the room, and cape sleeves that brought a dramatic, almost superhero-worthy flourish.

Meanwhile, Tiwa Savage reminded us why she’s forever the main character. Draped in a sheer, high-neck black dress that moved like liquid, she exuded an ethereal, gothic allure. The transparency created a mysterious “locked-in chic” effect, while the high neckline kept things sophisticated and cool. Her sharp pixie cut screamed confidence, framing her face with angles that radiated fearless femininity. Paired with black heels, a sleek purse, and the subtle edge of a hand tattoo, the look struck a perfect balance between minimalist precision and darkly romantic fantasy.
