Magic Johnson sets the high stakes for Game 5 of the World Series

Game 5 of the 2025 World Series gets underway in a few hours, and the stakes are high. Hours after losing a dramatic 18-inning instant classic to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Toronto Blue Jays took Game 4 of the World Series on Monday night to even the series at two games to two.

Leading up to first pitch, Los Angeles legend and partial Dodgers owner Magic Johnson laid out the stakes for Game 5:

This is just the latest in a lifetime of incredible sports social media posts from Johnson, whose musings run the gamut from true insight to just an update on whatever sporting event Magic is watching at the moment, with everything else in between:

2025 has been an up-and-down year for Magic. While the Dodgers are back in the World Series, the Washington Commanders are struggling:

And do not get Magic started about the state of the Michigan State football team:

Still, Magic was live-tweeting the instant classic that was Game 3:

We’ll see what Magic has to say about the “very important” Game 5 here in a few hours.

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal will miss the Clasico on May 10 after suffering a toe fracture, the club said on Saturday.

The veteran right-back is expected to be sidelined for the next two weeks, according to Spanish media, and could return for the club’s final game of the season against Athletic Bilbao.

Second-placed Real Madrid is 11 points behind leader Barcelona, which could clinch La Liga this weekend with a win at Osasuna if Los Blancos drops points at Espanyol on Sunday.

Carvajal will miss the Clasico away at Barcelona next Sunday, which could be his last as a Madrid player.

The defender, who has won six Champions League titles and four La Liga crowns with the club, is out of contract at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old had hoped to be part of Spain’s World Cup squad this summer, but after an injury-hit season his chances were already slim before this latest setback.
