Ginny & Georgia's Best New Character Showed Up At Exactly The Right Time

Ginny & Georgia's Best New Character Showed Up At Exactly The Right Time

Ginny & Georgia season 3 added an excellent new character, and not a moment too soon. The Netflix series has largely depended on the same batch of characters introduced in season 1, especially when it came to the show’s teenagers. However, this changed in the most recent installment. After dropping out of her AP English class, Ginny took up a college poetry course in Ginny & Georgia season 3 and met a new friend.

One of the benefits of Ginny taking a class outside of her Wellsbury High School is that no one there knew that she was the daughter of an alleged killer. She was able to relax and let loose a little bit, and no one contributed more to this than Wolfe. Played by Ty Doran in Ginny & Georgia season 3, Wolfe became a casual new love interest for Ginny following her breakup with Marcus. It wasn’t serious, and Ginny and Wolfe’s romance fell apart before the end of Ginny & Georgia season 3. Still, this new character came in at just the right moment.

Wolfe Is Ginny & Georgia Season 3’s Best New Character

He Brought Something Special To Ginny’s Story

There were a few new characters added to Ginny & Georgia season 3, but Wolfe was easily the best. Ginny’s new boyfriend is a lot less intense than most of the Netflix series’ characters, including those who were only just brought in for this installment. It was especially important that Ginny have someone light and fun to turn to as her life in Wellsbury fell to pieces. Wolfe had no high expectations for Ginny, and even once he knew the truth about her mom, it had virtually no impact on the way he interacted with her. Wolfe was simply fun.

Ginny & Georgia’s Teen Characters All Struggle In Season 3, But I Never Expected One Story To Hit So Hard

Mental health is at the forefront of the teens’ storylines in Ginny & Georgia season 3, but I wasn’t expecting one character’s arc to hit so hard.

Sure, Wolfe didn’t exactly handle Ginny’s pregnancy news well. However, he reacted just as any teenager with a casual new girlfriend would expect. Wolfe also followed this storyline by showing up for Ginny when she read her poem at the end-of-year assembly. He’s a good friend and an overall unproblematic guy, and this is something that Ginny & Georgia season 3 desperately needed.

Wolfe Is A Much-Needed Addition With The Netflix Series Getting Darker

Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Needed That Added Layer Of Fun

Things got significantly darker in Ginny & Georgia season 3. While this series is technically a dramedy, Georgia’s arrest threw the doors wide open to the more intense themes of the first two seasons. We see a lot happening with each character as they deal with complex trauma, depression, alcoholism, and more. Georgia’s life quickly fell apart, and she seemed to drag everyone else down with her. It would have been all too easy for Ginny & Georgia season 3 to become a pretty tough watch. However, Wolfe’s character effectively lightened the load.

Though I’m glad he was part of this story, I’m just as pleased that his relationship with Ginny didn’t work out.

This was precisely why Ginny liked Wolfe. She needed something easy and fun, and though we, the audience, are on the outside looking in, we needed this as well. Wolfe was a natural solution, and Ginny & Georgia season 3 wouldn’t have worked so well without him. Of course, this character served a rather temporary purpose, since the time eventually came that Ginny had to face the reality of her complex life. Though I’m glad he was part of this story, I’m just as pleased that his relationship with Ginny didn’t work out.

I’m Still Glad Wolfe & Ginny Don’t End Up Together In Season 3

Marcus Remains Ginny’s Primary Love Interest

Marcus is resting his head on Ginny's shoulder.

Wolfe’s character had a purpose, and it wasn’t to be Ginny’s endgame. After everything she had gone through with Marcus, it would be strange if Ginny’s story brought her permanently into the arms of a newcomer. Of course, if Ginny had chosen to keep her pregnancy, then she and Wolfe might have stuck it out together for a while. It’s difficult to say whether they could have been happy, but we can easily assume that the levity that made their romance so fun in Ginny & Georgia season 3 would have been drained away.
