The film arrives exclusively in theaters everywhere on December 19 courtesy of Lionsgate.

The official synopsis for The Housemaid reads as follows: Trying to escape her past, Millie (Sweeney) accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Sklenar). Based on the acclaimed, best-selling novel by author Freida McFadden, The Housemaid promises to be one of the most wildly entertaining thrillers of the year.

The Housemaid author Frieda McFadden has already seen an early screening of the movie, and she had nothing but glowing things to say about the adaptation. This is a delightful sign for fans of the book, especially in an era when the source material can be treated so carelessly. Rebecca Sonnenshine wrote the script for The Housemaid, and Paul Feig directed the film with Todd Lieberman and Laura Fischer producing. Feig is best known for directing Jason Statham’s Spy, along with A Simple Favor and its sequel, Another Simple Favor.
