Full Trailer for Andy Serkis-Directed ‘Animal Farm’ Animated Comedy

“Animal Farm: Four legs good, two legs bad.” Angel Studios has revealed the full official trailer for a new animated version of the classic story Animal Farm. This has been adapted before and turned into other movies, this time it’s a 3D animated adventure comedy from the English motion-capture master / filmmaker Andy Serkis. He explains: “Orwell’s Animal Farm has never felt more relevant. In an age where power, propaganda, & inequality shape our societies, it’s vital that we remember his cautionary tale. This [movie] isn’t just a story for entertainment — it’s a reminder that democracy, freedom, and integrity are fragile, and must be watched over. My hope is that audiences walk away moved, thoughtful, and inspired to stand up for the values that matter.” With the voices of Seth Rogen as Napoleon, Gaten Matarazzo as Lucky, Steve Buscemi as Mr. Whymper, Glenn Close as Freida Pilkington, Laverne Cox as Snowball, Kieran Culkin as Squealer, Woody Harrelson as Boxer, Jim Parsons as Carl the sheep, Andy Serkis as Mr. Jones & Randolph the Rooster, Kathleen Turner as Benjamin the donkey, and Iman Vellani as piglets Puff and Tammy. The sci-fi twist in this version is bonkers, but hey if wakes some folks up, then I guess sure why not.

When a group of farm animals rebel and kick their neglectful farmer off the land, life is good and the dream of a free, equitable future is within sight. But power struggles among some of literature’s most infamous characters ensue and the realities of living in a world designed for mankind complicates and corrupts the satirical and allegorical, Animal Farm. Animal Farm is directed by English actor / producer / artist / filmmaker Andy Serkis, who has also directed the movies Breathe, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage previously. The screenplay is written by filmmaker Nicholas Stoller (of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek, The Five-Year Engagement, Neighbors, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, Storks, Bros). Adapted directly from George Orwell’s famous novel of the same name first published in 1945. Produced by Andy Serkis, Adam Nagle, Dave Rosenbaum, Jonathan Cavendish. Animated by Cinesite Studios. This premiered at the 2025 Annecy Film Festival earlier this year. Angel Studios debuts Serkis’ Animal Farm movie in theaters nationwide starting May 1st, 2026 next summer. Anyone into this?
