Alexandra Daddario’s Wonder Woman Comments Come At The Perfect Time After DC Universe Casting Update

Alexandra Daddario has commented on playing Wonder Woman, and her new DC Universe comments ended up coinciding with a DCU rumor being confirmed, which could lead to Diana Prince debuting sooner than expected. When the DCU movie and TV slate was announced, a Wonder Woman reboot was not present. That has since changed, with Supergirl‘s Ana Nogueira penning the DCU Wonder Woman movie.

Several actresses have emerged as fan-favorites to replace Gal Gadot as DC’s new Wonder Woman, with Daddario becoming a popular casting choice alongside names like Andor‘s Adria Arjona and Ana de Armas. Daddario has a DC past, having voiced Lois Lane in DC’s animated Tomorrowverse. She has addressed the DCU casting rumors, which come at an interesting time for the franchise.

After the success of James Gunn’s Superman movie, DC quickly moved forward with a sequel, Man of Tomorrow, which will be released on July 9, 2027. To make that date, the Superman sequel will begin filming around April 2026, which means casting is bound to pick up as the new year begins. The first step of that was the confirmation that Brainiac is in the movie.

Ever since Man of Tomorrow was announced, fans theorized that the villain Superman and Lex Luthor were teaming up to stop had to be Brainiac. James Gunn went on to tease the character on social media with cryptic posts, eventually revealing that German actor Lars Eidinger will play Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow. Interestingly, like Brainiac, Wonder Woman is also rumored for the DCU movie.

Rumors recently emerged about Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor making their DCU debuts in Man of Tomorrow after casting calls for characters with their traits found their way online. While Gunn debunked the Steve Trevor rumor, the director never commented on the Wonder Woman of it all. Since the Brainiac rumors panned out, maybe Wonder Woman really is in Man of Tomorrow.

In October, Alexandra Daddario talked to ScreenRant about whether she could play the DC Universe’s Wonder Woman after the fan campaign for her to take on the role. Speaking about all the fan art that has been made of her as Diana Prince and other DC characters, Daddario said, “I’m flattered to hear that it’s happening.” She is open to a DCU role.

According to Daddario, “Working with James Gunn would be amazing in any capacity.” Given that Wonder Woman is rumored for Man of Tomorrow, just like Brainiac was before being officially confirmed, and Gunn notably debunked the Steve Trevor rumor but not Diana’s, it seems like Wonder Woman could be cast when 2026 starts, soon after Daddario’s comments.

As such, there could not have been a better time for the popular actress to reveal she would be open to joining James Gunn’s DC Universe. If Wonder Woman is to be part of Man of Tomorrow, Daddario has the skills to make Diana pop. Possible casting updates for the DCU Wonder Woman and whether Daddario is involved could come as 2026 begins.
