Adrian Grenier has a soft spot in his heart for former costar Anne Hathaway — even if the pair haven’t seen each other since the premiere of 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada.

“I haven’t seen [Anne],” Grenier, 49, exclusively told Us Weekly on Friday, March 13, while promoting his new movie Self Custody, a bitcoin thriller available to stream on Amazon Prime.

“I haven’t seen her since, either,” he added.

According to the Entourage star, he hasn’t seen Hathaway, 43, since their hit film The Devil Wears Prada debuted in 2006. The pair appeared on the red carpet at the Loews Lincoln Center Theatre in New York City at the time, alongside their castmates Stanley Tucci, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Daniel Sunjata.

Many of Grenier’s former costars are reuniting for the long-awaited sequel to the hit film, The Devil Wears Prada 2. News broke in July 2024 that the movie was finally in production, following Hathaway’s character as she returns to the infamous Runway offices as a features editor.

Grenier, however, is not reprising his polarizing role as Andrea Sachs’ (Hathaway) less-than-supportive boyfriend, Nate.

“I would be bitter if I wasn’t so absolutely thrilled for Anne and the crew, and excited for the sequel myself,” Grenier told Us of his absence from the highly-anticipated film. “I’m a fan of the movie, and so I look forward to seeing the sequel as well. So yeah, I mean, obviously I was disappointed, but you know — I can’t be in everything, you know?”

Despite his admitted disappointment, Grenier admits that it made sense for his character to be excluded from the sequel, since Nate and Andy were no longer a couple at the end of the first film.

“That makes sense,” he told Us. “I mean, Andy’s moving up and, you know, I get it. Yeah. Nate’s the devil, according to some people … he wanted to settle down, I guess, and you know. I get that.”

He added, “I hope they invite me to the premiere at least, come on!”

Of course, Grenier isn’t the only star who is looking forward to the sequel hitting theaters on Friday, May 1 — Hathaway is hoping fans will flock to the big screen dressed in their The Devil Wears Prada best.

“I’m hoping everybody dresses up and goes to the movies,” the actress told Vogue back in February. “I hope people remember how much fun they had wearing hot pink and going to see Barbie. I’m hoping that everybody puts on their favorite Miranda Priestly-approved outfit and just has a blast.”
