We’re getting our first look at Paul Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon in character as John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy for their new FX anthology series!

On Friday (June 13), Ryan Murphy took to Instagram and shared the first photos of the two actors in full costume, hair and makeup as the famous couple as production for the new show American Love Story began this week in New York City. Ryan also revealed that the show will be premiering in February 2026.

Keep reading to find out more…“FIRST LOOK! 📸 Here are some stills from our LOVE STORY camera test,” Ryan wrote. “We started shooting this week in New York City and can’t wait until you see the romantic and tragic love story between America’s prince, JFK Jr., and fashion icon Carolyn Bessette—out Valentine’s Day week of 2026.”

He continued, “I am thrilled to introduce you to Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn and Paul Kelly as John F. Kennedy Jr. Over a thousand actors auditioned for each of these roles, and we absolutely found the perfect choices. Congratulations Sarah and Paul!”

In the screen test photos, Paul is wearing a black suit with a red and white tie while Sarah donned Carolyn‘s signature, long, bleached-blonde hair while wearing a tan leather coat over a black turtleneck. In another screen test photo, Paul sported a gray button down shirt, black vest, jeans, and a backwards gray cap.

The series will follow JFK Jr. and Carolyn‘s whirlwind romance. The couple passed away in a plane crash in 1999 when she was 33 and he was 38. They were the subject of lots of media scrutiny when their romance began, through their deaths.
