New details are emerging amid the disappearance of Today anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie.
The Los Angeles Times cited law enforcement sources on Tuesday, February 3, and noted that authorities found blood inside Nancy’s home.
The outlet reported that the family went to Nancy’s home on Sunday, February 1, and all of her personal belongings — including her wallet, cell phone and car — were still at the residence.
News broke on Sunday that the 84-year-old was reported missing by a family member who called 911. She was last seen on Saturday, January 31, at her residence.
While speaking exclusively to Us Weekly on Monday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared that what was found inside the home raised eyebrows.
“Something unusual at that house occurred that made us go, ‘Wow, something’s wrong here. Something doesn’t fit,’” Nanos told Us. “We’re gonna pull all the stops and go at all angles. We really do hope it’s a search and rescue mission and we find her and she’s safe and sound. But it would be unjust if we didn’t look at what’s in front of us and go, ‘We need to act.’”

Nanos confirmed that Savannah, 54, and her family “really wants her back.” (Nancy shared daughters Savannah and Annie and son Camron with late husband Charles, who died at age 49 from a heart attack.)
“This is an 84-year-old lady who is safe in her own home asleep, and she is taken,” Nanos said. “And that should never happen.”
In a separate interview with CBS News on Monday, Nanos added, “I believe she was abducted, yes. She didn’t walk from there. She didn’t go willingly.”
Savannah was absent from the Today Show on Monday, with Craig Melvin and cohost Sheinelle Jones filling in and sharing a statement during the broadcast on behalf of her family.
“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” the statement read. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
Savannah spoke out further via Instagram on Monday, alongside a graphic that read, “Please Pray.”
“We believe in prayer. we believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness. we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him,” Savannah wrote. “Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”
She continued with a Bible verse, writing, “We need you. ‘He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.’ a verse of Isaiah for all time for all of us.”
Savannah concluded her message with a plea, “Bring her home.”
