May 1, 2026; Toronto, Ontario, CAN; Toronto Raptors forward RJ Barrett (9) celebrates after scoring the winning basket against the Cleveland Cavaliers during the overtime period in game six of the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs at Scotiabank Arena. Mandatory Credit: Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images RJ Barrett made a 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left in overtime Friday night as the Toronto Raptors defeated the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers 112-110 to force Game 7 of the first-round playoff series.
Barrett’s Kawhi-esque bucket from straight away hit the back of the rim, bounced high into the air and fell in between the mesh. The shot was from the same end of the court as Leonard’s four-bounce miracle during Game 7 against the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2019 playoffs.
Barrett, the Mississauga, Ontario, native, finished with 24 points. Ja’Kobe Walter also scored 24 to set up the deciding game Sunday at Cleveland.
Scottie Barnes had 25 points and 13 assists for the Raptors, and Collin Murray-Boyles contributed 17 points.
Evan Mobley had 26 points and 14 rebounds for the Cavaliers in a series in which the home team has won each game.
Donovan Mitchell added 24 points, and James Harden had 16 points, nine assists and four turnovers. Jarrett Allen scored 14 points, while Dean Wade contributed 10.
Toronto took an 11-point lead into the fourth quarter. After two Cleveland defensive stops, Mitchell nailed a corner three and then made a driving layup to reduce the margin to three with 6:54 to go. Mobley’s rebound and dunk cut the lead to one with 5:48 left. A Barnes free throw had Toronto up by two with 1:17 left. Toronto’s shot-clock violation gave Cleveland possession with 0:16 left. Mobley’s layup tied the game at 104 with a layup with 0:12 to play in regulation. Jamal Shead missed a 17-footer to set up overtime.
After a Toronto turnover, Harden hit a 12-footer to give Cleveland a two-point lead. Barnes tied it at 108 with a floater with 1:25 left in overtime. Mitchell’s layup put Cleveland up by two with 0:34 left, and then Shead made one of two free throws to cut the lead to one. Mobley’s turnover gave Toronto the ball with 0:11 left to set up Barrett’s shot.
The game was tied at 32 after one quarter.
The Raptors led by nine points after Barnes spun around Harden before making a dunk with 7:04 left in the second quarter. Cleveland cut the lead to two before Toronto took a 61-51 halftime lead following Shead’s 3-pointer with 51 seconds remaining.
A Cleveland turnover led to Barrett’s running layup and a 15-point lead with 5:02 to play in the third quarter. Toronto led 92-81 after three quarters.
Toronto was without Brandon Ingram and Immanuel Quickley.

Mandatory Credit: Matt Blewett-Imagn Images Kazuma Okamoto hit two homers and drove in three runs as the Toronto Blue Jays pulled away for a 7-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Friday night in Minneapolis.
Yohendrick Pinango finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Toronto, which evened the series at one win apiece. Lenyn Sosa went 3-for-4 with a double.
Byron Buxton went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to lead Minnesota. Ryan Jeffers tallied the other RBI for the Twins.
Blue Jays left-hander Patrick Corbin (1-0) allowed two runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out four.
Twins right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson (0-5) gave up six runs (four earned) on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked one and fanned two.
The Blue Jays started the scoring in the second inning.
Daulton Varsho and Sosa hit back-to-back singles with one out, and they advanced on a wild pitch by Woods Richardson. Pinango hit a ground ball moments later, and Twins first baseman Josh Bell fired an errant throw past home plate that allowed the Blue Jays to take a 2-0 lead.
The Twins pulled even at 2-all in the third.
Brooks Lee led off the inning with a single, and Buxton followed two batters later with a home run just past the wall in left field. The shot was Buxton’s fourth home run in the past five games and his ninth of the season.

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal will miss the Clasico on May 10 after suffering a toe fracture, the club said on Saturday.
The veteran right-back is expected to be sidelined for the next two weeks, according to Spanish media, and could return for the club’s final game of the season against Athletic Bilbao.
Second-placed Real Madrid is 11 points behind leader Barcelona, which could clinch La Liga this weekend with a win at Osasuna if Los Blancos drops points at Espanyol on Sunday.

Carvajal will miss the Clasico away at Barcelona next Sunday, which could be his last as a Madrid player.
The defender, who has won six Champions League titles and four La Liga crowns with the club, is out of contract at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old had hoped to be part of Spain’s World Cup squad this summer, but after an injury-hit season his chances were already slim before this latest setback.

Dec 26, 2025; Phoenix, AZ, USA; Minnesota Golden Gophers quarterback Drake Lindsey (5) against the New Mexico Lobos during the Rate Bowl at Chase Field. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Minnesota starting quarterback Drake Lindsey was arrested Friday for allegedly using a fake ID and for possessing alcohol as a minor.
The arrest took place in Lindsey’s native Arkansas, where Fayetteville police responded to a call from a bar in town about a possible fake identification.
Per a preliminary police report, the 20-year-old Lindsey admitted to owning the ID and said he drank alcohol before going to the bar.
He spent about seven hours in the Washington County Detention Center and posted a $470 bond, according to outlets that viewed detention records. He has district court hearings set for June 1 and June 29.
A Minnesota spokesperson told ESPN that the university is “aware of the situation and will address it internally.”
Lindsey was the Golden Gophers’ starting quarterback as a freshman last season and set a program record for wins by a freshman QB with eight. He threw for 2,382 yards and 18 touchdowns with six interceptions on 63.2% passing.

This weekend brings the first Saturday in May.
Which means it is time for one of the biggest events on the annual sports calendar: the Kentucky Derby.
This year’s field includes a horse on a commanding winning streak, and a favorite that will start in a rather unfavorable position following the post draw.
Here is how, and what, to watch for in the 2026 Kentucky Derby.
Race day begins at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 2nd on the NBC family of networks, however, there are numerous races ahead of the main event.
Starting at 12:00 p.m. ET, the event will be on NBCSN and Peacock until 2:30 p.m. ET. Then, at 2:30 p.m. ET, the Derby will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock until 7:30 p.m.
You can also stream everything through Peacock starting at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday.
These will change as we approach race time, but here are the current odds for the 2026 Kentucky Derby, as available from Churchill Downs, arranged by the post draw:
Post | Horse | Jockey | Trainer | Odds | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Renegade | Irad Ortiz Jr. | Todd A. Pletcher | 4-1 | In the field |
| 2 | Albus | Manuel Franco | Riley Mott | 30-1 | In the field |
| 3 | Intrepido | Hector I. Berrios | Jeff Mullins | 50-1 | In the field |
| 4 | Litmus Test | Martin Garcia | Bob Baffert | 30-1 | In the field |
| 5 | Right to Party | Christopher Elliott | Kenneth G. Mcpeek | 26-1 | Scratched |
| 6 | Commandment | Luis Saez | Brad H. Cox | 7-1 | In the field |
| 7 | Danon Bourbon | Atsuya Nishimura | Manabu Ikezoe | 14-1 | In the field |
| 8 | So Happy | Mike E. Smith | Mark Glatt | 6-1 | In the field |
| 9 | The Puma | Javier Castellano | Gustavo Delgado | 8-1 | In the field |
| 10 | Wonder Dean | Ryusei Sakai | Daisuke Takayanagi | 20-1 | In the field |
| 11 | Incredibolt | Jaime A. Torres | Riley Mott | 27-1 | In the field |
| 12 | Chief Wallabee | Junior Alvarado | William I. Mott | 9-1 | In the field |
| 13 | Silent Tactic | Christian A. Torres | Mark E. Casse | 38-1 | Scratched |
| 14 | Potente | Juan J. Hernandez | Bob Baffert | 23-1 | In the field |
| 15 | Emerging Market | Flavlen Prat | Chad C. Brown | 11-1 | In the field |
| 16 | Pavlovian | Edwin A. Maldonado | Doug F. O’Neill | 52-1 | In the field |
| 17 | Six Speed | Brian J. Hernandez, Jr. | Bhupat Seemar | 40-1 | In the field |
| 18 | Further Ado | John R. Velazquez | Brad H. Cox | 7-1 | In the field |

| 23 | Robusta | Emisael Jaramillo | Doug F. O’Neill | 50-1 | In the field |
As you can see in the above table, Renegade enters the 2026 Kentucky Derby as the favorite, but the Todd A. Pletcher-trained horse drew the inside #1 post, which could pose a problem on Saturday. The last horse to win from “the rail” was Ferdinand, which happened before many of you were alive back in 1986. Historically, just 8.3% of Kentucky Derby winners started in the #1 post.
Commandment enters the 2026 Kentucky Derby on an incredible winning streak, as the 3-year-old colt has won four straight races. That includes the Florida Derby, an event that has produced 26 Kentucky Derby winners. In that race, Commandment “averaged a 22.92-foot stride length and ran the final furlong in just 12.32 seconds, 0.36 seconds faster than any other horse in the field.”
Further Ado is another horse to watch in this field. The horse, also trained by Brad H. Cox, Commandment’s trainer, secured a 20-length win at Keeneland last October, for its maiden victory. Add in Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez, and you could have a winning recipe.
As of Friday morning three horses — Right to Party, Silent Tactic, and Fulleffort — have been scratched from the field.
If you are hosting a Derby Party you will need a few things. First, the perfect mint julep. Assuming you can find good mint, Alton Brown’s recipe and technique is a good recipe to follow. The Kentucky Derby also has a recipe you can follow.
Second, you’ll need the right menu. The Kentucky Derby has shared the “Derby At Home” menu which includes chicken salad sandwiches, char-grilled short ribs with pomegranate and fennel, honey bourbon grilled chicken, brown sugar glazed carrots, and more.
