The eighth episode of Beast Games season 2 followed the Top 10 contestants competing in a challenge to win both money and trust, setting the stage for the rest of the games.
At the end of the previous episode, the players were led to a graveyard and told to pick a team captain. The captain would remain on land while the other 9 players would be buried alive (safely in oversized coffins). Wrestler Nick Mariano, player 118, was chosen as the captain and tasked with a major decision.
The next challenge did not have an elimination-factor, but $1 million was on the line. MrBeast gave the Top 10 a million dollars to split amongst themselves, but it was a game of trust as each player got to decide how much they take when they entered the pod. As the team captain, Nick got the first cut of the prize and could either take $1 million for himself, take his even share of $100,000, or take any amount he wishes. He also got to choose the order for who goes next.
So, how much did each contestant take?
Keep reading to find out more…
- Nick did not play fair and took $250,000 for himself.
- Auguste, player 172, was selected next and he took $83,333, which was 1/9th of the remaining pot.
- Tyler, player 167, went next and he took $100,000, which he said was what he originally agreed to take.
- Jack, player 58, went next and he took $81,000, which was 1/7th of the remaining pot.
- Brett, player 195, was selected next and he took $250,000, completely blindsiding everyone else with his greedy pick.
- Cory, player 181, went next and took $47,133, which was 1/5th of the remaining pot.
- Monika, player 152, went next. When she got to the pot, she was given the option of trading her $10 million coin for a guaranteed $500,000. (Possession of the coin gives her the chance to flip it at the end to turn the grand prize from $5 million to $10 million. She did not have to tell the other contestants she sold the coin.) After taking the $500,000, she decided to take $0 of the team’s pot, letting everyone think she took nothing to allow others to get more.
- Jim, player 173, was next and he took $62,420, which was just a little bit less than 1/3rd of the remaining pot.
- Kady, player 38, was next and took $63,057, which was half of the remaining pot.
- Hannah, player 99, went last and was left with $63,057.
Obviously, everyone was upset with Nick and Brett for taking half of the pot collectively! No one knew about Monika‘s big payday though… except for her boyfriend Jim, who she swore to secrecy.
For the next game, the Top 10 was flown to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. They will now be using the money that they took to bribe each other for a place in the Top 6.
In this challenge, the contestants will vote to determine who will advance to the Top 6. One contestant will move forward during each round of voting until six have advanced. They can use the money that they earned to bribe others for votes.
While Monika likely thinks she’s guaranteed to move forward because everyone will reward her for taking $0 of the previous prize pot, Auguste has figured out what she did and is threatening to blow up her game. The episode ended with him telling her what he knows.
