Bernadette Fall 2026: Hostess With the Mostess

Bernadette and Charlotte de Geyter’s playful spin on ladylike dressing did not disappoint. For their third season in Paris, the Antwerp-based mother-daughter design duo called on Belgian filmmaker Studio Alfons Meyer to create a short film to accompany the collection.

Called “The Hostess” and featuring a group of women getting ready to host a party in a stately home, this was their backdrop for exploring the personalities they imagined as they put the designs together. “The women are so different, and that’s what we love,” said Charlotte de Geyter, pointing out a pair of white shirts with tone-on-tone embroideries, one of ample proportions in crisp poplin, the second more fitted, fluid and girly, as an example of the diversity in their cast of characters.

De Geyter the younger is responsible for designing the prints in the collection, with allover delphinium spurs sprouting over a caftan here, a satin evening gown there, while a winter garden was evoked in a chiné hydrangea print. Roses and cherry blossom were also part of the bouquet, with a little fun added by way of juicy berries embroidered onto gowns and dainty velvet evening pouches. New shoe shapes included higher heeled styles and hand-embroidered silk pumps.

Cosy knits got the floral treatment too, from a comfy sweater with an intarsia motif — worn over a fuchsia silk evening gown in Bernadette’s world — to a ribbed khaki cardigan with appliqué embroideries designed to be paired with a taffeta mid-length skirt with bows punctuating its dropped waist.

Signature ribbon details featured as a check on bright pink pajamas or highlighting the waist and shoulders on crushed velvet dresses. Gingham silhouettes with a twist — an asymmetric shoulder here, a knitted reinterpretation there — enhanced the sentiment of a contemporary update for a nostalgia-infused wardrobe nodding to old-world glamour.
