When a former player enters any game alongside newbies, a target will inevitably be placed upon their back. Knowing that aligning with them may risk your own standing in the game, sometimes a personal connection takes precedence over the game’s strategy. Such was the case for California’s, Amy Bingham. On night one of Big Brother 27, the house was put into a frenzy when the mysterious Mastermind introduced Big Brother legend Rachel Reilly. But she wasn’t the mysterious seventeenth Houseguest; it was Amy serving as the Mastermind’s accomplice.
As fate would have it, the two women who were involved in the game’s first twist found a common connection that tied them together, forming the Mom Squad. Unfortunately for Amy, having her number one ally as a former winner of the game became her ticket to eviction. Even so, Amy has no regrets. “I knew it was bad for my gameplay, literally, from day one. Right when we became friends, I was like crap,” Amy admitted.
‘Big Brother’ Just Made History — and Amy Fell on the Sword To Do It
When Amy walked into the Big Brother house on night one, all the preparation she came in with went out the window. “Initially, I really wanted to go in and meet the Houseguest, Kind of get a feel of who they are. Feel them out, see if I wanted to play with them. See if I trusted them. And you can’t. Everyone goes in and plays very hard from the start,” Amy revealed. Noting how there was constant scheming and planning until the wee hours of the morning, she felt that her age played a factor in who she could connect with. And there was Rachel. Another mom around her age with whom she felt an instant bond. “Being a mom away from my babies, it was a different experience than I ever could have imagined.”
“She’s just easy to talk to,” she said. “We became friends instantly.” But friends don’t necessarily mean the perfect person to play alongside. Amy admitted that she was a loyal person and, thus, she was not going to sacrifice her newfound friend once their bond was established. “Maybe I was used by her, but I looked at her as a real friend. From my standpoint, there was nothing I could have done. I’m a loyal friend, in and out of the house,” Amy said. That loyalty did shine through until the bitter end as she honorably fell on her sword and let all her friends vote to evict her so as not to further draw lines in the sand. Amy’s unanimous eviction made Big Brother history as the player with the most votes to evict in a single season, with 18.
While she knows that her ultimate downfall was aligning with Rachel and her inability to win a competition, Amy is certain that had Keanu Soto and Kelley Jorgensen not utilized their powers in a single week, she’d still be in the house. Though she doesn’t think it impacted her game at all, she still doesn’t believe anyone caught on to her identity as the Mastermind’s accomplice. But a warning, if Rachel is in the house, and you’re a production twist, expect an early exit. After Annie Whittington was evicted first as the saboteur during Rachel’s first season on Big Brother 12, Amy, as the Mastermind’s accomplice, was evicted second. “There’s a Rachel Reilly curse. I’m convinced. Now that I’m part of it, I’m convinced! I love her, but I don’t want to be part of her curse,” she laughed.

Amy’s ‘Big Brother’ Exit Turns Into a Warning Shot: Jimmy Is a Liar
Even so, Amy was aware of the target on Rachel’s back and how the house, specifically Jimmy Heagerty, wanted Rachel gone. “The first thing Jimmy said when she came in the house, we were in a room without her, and he was like, ‘So we all know what we need to do, right?’,” Amy shared. “But I became friends with her, so I’m not trying to get her out.” Amy knew that she had become a pawn in his ultimate agenda. “He wanted me out because I don’t trust him, and he knows I don’t trust him,” she said as she laughed.
As Amy left the house, she had some parting words for Jimmy: “Get Jimmy out!” There was a reason for her plea. “I cannot stand his lies. He would lie, and I just wanted to call him out so bad every single time he said something,” she revealed. “I was finally able to. And I hope people know, pay attention. If he’s lying, if you don’t know, you will now. I can’t stand a lying manipulator.” So why didn’t he just target Rachel? “It’s just gameplay,” she said. “Cut off the arms. Cut off the people that she had.” While it might be a short-term gain, it might be foolish for the DC strategist, as Amy believes Rachel is now stronger without her in the house. Amy leaves Big Brother having learned that she is a lot stronger than she thinks. “If I could realistically have separated from Rachel, I couldn’t do that. I wouldn’t even know how to be in that house and separate from my people,” she said.
