When General Hospital brought back Kelly Thiebaud as Britt Westbourne, there were many questions to be answered, including whether she and Jason (Steve Burton) would get back together. It might be a controversial pairing with heavy criticism, but there is actually room for another steamy couple on the hit ABC soap, and it’s definitely JaBritt. What was once a romance cut short now has the chance to go the full mile with Jason being resurrected from the dead (twice), and Britt being revealed to be alive.
Meanwhile, the doctor has been working at a lab overseas and using Professor Dalton (Daniel Goddard) in Port Charles to do research for her. Britt is likely working on something to do with Huntington’s disease, as she was showing signs of the disease before the “Hook” killer murdered her. That, coupled with her being alive in the first place, likely has everything to do with what she’s working on. Thiebaud’s return will add a twist to General Hospital which isn’t the “same old, same old” story that has been played over the last several months.
Kelly Thiebaud’s Britt Has a Big Target on Her Back in ‘General Hospital’
Before revealing that Britt was alive, General Hospital teased viewers about a mysterious person Dalton was working with who had been on the canvas for months. The dots were all connected recently when the bag that the WSB (World Security Bureau, a fictional international spy agency similar to Interpol or the CIA) was tracking landed exactly where Britt was.
With the target on her back growing, and Jason becoming suspicious about what he saw in the airport, it’s only a matter of time before everything is out in the open. There will be questions about whether Liesl (Kathleen Gati) helped her stay alive and knows where she’s been, what her research is for, and why she chose Dalton as the guy to work on it.
Britt found out she was a carrier of Huntington’s disease before her “death,” and Jason was there as she dealt with the symptoms that were emerging. She was upset because she didn’t want to suffer from the disease that her father, Faison (Anders Hove), had. The new friendship with Jason helped encourage her, which may be why she is working hard on the mysterious project. When she allegedly “died,” she believed Jason was gone too.
A JaBritt Reunion Is Exactly What ‘General Hospital’ Needs
Jason and Britt had serious chemistry when they were paired up in late 2020 when he helped her escape the clutches of Cyrus (Jeff Kober). He was shot in the process, and when they went on the run, she took care of his wound. Carly (Laura Wright) was there for it all, and she’s the reason the two weren’t on great terms.
As JaBritt began to heat up, they were torn apart because Jason needed to marry Carly to secure the business. With Sonny (Maurice Benard) gone, Jason had to step up, costing him what he could’ve had with Britt. However, it appeared they were working on getting back to each other as they went to rescue Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Liesl together.
Now that Jason has caught a glimpse of Britt at the airport, he is set on finding out whether she is alive or if it was just his imagination. He knows his mind isn’t playing tricks on him, but no one gives him hope that she could be alive. Even Liesl didn’t appear to know her daughter was alive and well. If she did, she wouldn’t let on when Jason questioned her.
Burton and Thiebaud Could Catch Heat Over a ‘General Hospital’ Reunion
JaBritt could amp things up if done right. Jason has been synonymous with Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) over the years, and there are heavy fan bases for both. However, Britt brought out some personality in him and highlighted his softer side. What could have been between them was left hanging for years, and with what’s happening in Port Charles, it is only a matter of time before the two cross paths.
A new couple with potential could be what the ABC soap series needs to get things moving again. There’s been plenty of focus on the mob storylines and Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) relationship with Drew. Britt has many layers and plays off of Jason’s stoic and less-than-talkative personality. With an unfinished story, such as Jason and Britt’s pairing, General Hospital has endless possibilities for a development that could impact the soap on many levels.
