Give him a badge and a little bit of power.” Quiver Distribution has revealed an official trailer for a gritty desert noir thriller called Blood Star, made by filmmaker Lawrence Jacomelli as his first feature film. This premiered at a few genre film festivals in Europe last year and will be out on VOD later this month for anyone to watch. In this gritty desert noir, a petty thief driving through the New Mexico desert becomes the target of a psychopathic small-town sheriff who views his badge as a license to prey on vulnerable women. Stripped of her phone, car and voice, she must rely on raw instinct and street-smarts to survive a brutal game of cat and mouse— and reclaim her power in a land where the law is just another form of control. Blood Star stars John Schwab as the psychopath killer, Britni Camacho as the girl on the run, with Sydney Brumfield, Brandon Brown, and Felix Merback. View the trailer below.

The screenplay is written by Lawrence Jacomelli, George Kelly, and Victoria Hinks Taylor. And it’s produced by Lawrence Jacomelli, Victoria Hinks Taylor, Zaina Tibi. This initially premiered at the 2024 Neuchâtel Fantastic Film Festival in France last year, and already opened in France in the fall.
